Going to get a compact wallet to replace my cloth Herschel cardholder I’m been using for more than 5 years.
Looking at Hermès because need to accumulate “loyalty points” for wife’s birkin bag. So far considering MC2 copernic compact. Anyone know what are some of the best leathers to get? Not into lizard leather.

Decided to get card holder instead. The other available bearn and citizen twill are too bulky in the pocket.

I'm searching for my next wallet which I'm leaning towards a long wallet now cos I need cards/bills/coins compartment

LV zippy
LV brazza
Cartier international wallet

But on the other hand, scared I cannot get use to the long wallet size
After all they are about 8"x4" approximately

Solid choice. The Epsom calfskin will last you forever and its easy to clean.

initially wanted to ask for barenia. But when I go there the SA is like we only have 2 in stock, black epsom or grey epsom. Don’t even need to mention other leather, even color only have 2… so not much options there. Heard their stock now super limited due to covid and their Paris factory had to close for quite a while. My wife’s been waiting on her non-quota garden party bag for over 4 months already.

If your focus is on functionality then I'd say just go for it. Think of ALL the times you need to access these things but find it so troublesome to dig around for it.

Realistically and in my experience, getting used to long wallet size is down to two things:
1. How you dress
If you're usually in an urban office environment, and you're ok with hand-carrying your wallet/phone to walk around for lunch and meetings, long wallet is not an issue. Better yet if you're often in a jacket, but not a dealbreaker if you're not. Weekends and off days may be less of an issue.

2. How you move
This includes whether your day-to-day activity requires you to move around a lot, whether you need quick access, etc. This will also affect whether you get a zipped option (e.g. LV Zippy) or a coat wallet option (Brazza).

There are also other options you can consider, like getting a two-wallet setup, e.g. a Brazza with a 2-3 cardholder that you slip into the gusseted space behind the coin zip, or just carry around in a front pocket. Versatile when you need it, not bulky when you don't.

Wah.. you married a patient one! Haha..

Ohh.. But I think the Euclide doesn't come in Barenia anyway? Barenia Copernic is good looking though.

You are right.

1) My work attire = my weekend attire = off day attire = Cargo shorts with tshirt
I keep my wallet in the front pocket of the cargo shorts, you know the biggest pocket on thigh area.

2) my concern with zippy is that, i need to access 2 zips to get to the coin compartments.

wanna minimise the number of carry i bring. 1 wallet holds my business cards, credit cards, coins, notes, blah blah

Wasn’t too sure what comes with what. Sometimes Hermes have rare combinations at store so sometimes can try luck.

Can I ask roughly how many cards (both credit and biz), coins, and notes you typically carry?

Credit card: 6-8
Name cards: probably 3-5 at one time
IC
Notes: 3-10pcs of mix denominations
Have you considered L-zip wallets? They're shorter than the Zippy, can carry the amount of cards you're looking at (if you find the right combi or customise it), coins, folded notes, and come in a single package. If you can MTO more slots you'll be able to organise even more. Sorry I can't post examples cos I havent hit the post count yet. Haha.. Let me know if you need me to DM you some examples.

You're good. I actually am using a L zip now

Using this in particular

Loving it and getting compliments from random strangers when I pulled out this. Only qualm is I needed more card slots and I am very reluctant to carry a cardholder in addition to this

Haha thank you. Straight talk - I am in the line of designing these types of goods. Let me know if you're interested and we can continue the convo.

OnlyBrown's curation is good stuff. That wallet is very very good looking, and the Shinki (especially the colour) is a perfect choice. Especially since Shinki shell is typically more homogenous than those from other tanners, the subtle colour texture that Munekawa managed to get makes it really pleasing to look at. Also makes for a very versatile carry.

think it’s better to buy from store. Some are really high quality fakes. Buying online also troublesome cos what if the product does not meet your expectation

Maybe a little “defect”. Then have to waste time return it to courier. Store is the best.
