I was initially winding my chrono... But did some Googling randomly and they recommend not to hand wind it as it will wear out quite fast.

Is this specific to certain movement like Valjoux 7750, or it applies to all watch? Of course I know moving any parts will wear it down, just whether it will accelerate the breakdown.

otoh, what about watches/movements that are handwound only? do such designs wear them out fast? cos afaik, storing energy in the barrel of the mainspring, whether via handwinding or rotor should be the same, no?

The trouble is, I'm a firm believer that you can't decide if you like a watch until you have it for a while.

i'm just fortunate to discover & own an honest, affordable, cult collectible classic with design and features I like all in a watch! it really helps me resist most watch poison and the rolex aspirational watch that plagues most people - which is a real blessing too, given my very limited funds.

being oop means the omega 2254.50 is even more exclusive than the rolex sub - a watch unfortunately plagued by fakes and homages (no offense to rolex bros here cos it's a very good watch with an excellent movement - just overpriced for the value it represent - although it holds its value really well!)

Yes, tried my friend's normal version of the watch on a leather strap. Having the watch on leather strap makes it be more manageable than the metal bracelet.

imho, a nylon nato / isofrane rubber / sharkmesh bracelet would go better with a dive watch...

Personally I think Winders are great for those who have few watches in heavy rotation.

Self winding long power reserve movements is another direction to consider. With enough daily charging, one different 8 day power reserve watch a day for 7 days a week lol

i think most GS bros here have the spring drive and hi-beat automatic versions of the GS.

I've always felt that winders are only necessary if you have very complicated watches that are very tedious or difficult to set.

I like to "connect" with my watches. Setting the watch is one of the ways, so doing it on a daily basis is not an issue for me. Anyway, It should take less than 2 minutes to set it. YMMV.

As for wear and tear, I personally believe that putting a watch on a winder everyday would lead to faster wear and tear, unless you wear the same watch everyday (then no difference).

So back to the age old question of winder or not?!
