the swiss watch makers have themselves to blame. instead of innovating, they are indulgently serving up pretty much the same old watches, and charging a ridiculous premium to justify their outdated processes, boutiques and image.

the microbrands will ride out the storm as they pass on savings to consumers and innovate on designs and materials at way below "swiss brand" prices.

poor excuse to blame the smart watches - if thats the case then Casio would be the first to die off. instead they keep on innovating in design and tech - and at reasonable prices within reach of many.

imho, hardcore chronos have the following movement inside (not in any particular order):


- lemania 5100.
- column wheel omega calibre 321.
- zenith el-primero.
- heuer calibre 11.
- <add your fav here>

- seiko 8RXX and of course the 6139
- workhorse like 7750 is legendary too. argicultural, but bullet proof

Oops, I didn't see if the watch would stop completely, cos I put it on after.. Maybe I should let it run down. Some people online say that Orient Star's real power reserve is more like 48 hours though.. Whereas the indicator is 40 hours. I always thought the indicator was connected to the mainspring though.

Yes, when I wind/move the power reserve meter will charge as well.

just finish tested my orient star total reserve is about 46hrs

Most shops only have XL version.

Mustafa have the Mako I, but expensive. I got mine from Kwang Guan.

just finish tested my orient star total reserve is about 46hrs

Mine seems to have run down 3 1/2 hours after the PR indicator should have run dry.

But maybe not fully charged.

So your Star ran for 6 hours after indicator went to zero?

not sure .. .. only check total reserve , forget to see how long it last when empty meter start...

I think there is no fault with your watch , means your hidden reserve is 3.5 hours ...
