Planning to get a simple and practical watch as a daily wear for wife.

Currently, she has 2 watches; a old Titus quartz and Tissot auto and rotates between them every few days. She has to change the quartz battery annually coz the battery is small and only lasts her slightly more than a year and she finds it a hassle to adjust the Tissot every few days.

I'm considering to get her a Seiko (solar) or Citizen (eco-drive); neither does she need to change battery nor adjust the watch frequently.

She prefers something non-flashy, simple and durable. So, I'm considering these 2 brands. Any other recommendation?

Visited city chain outlet but the models are quite limited. Anywhere else can I find a wide selection?

how about Bering watches? I once saw that they have solar powered ones and they look quite nice for ladies.

not sure how good the brand is though, i've never own one before.

Orient? they make good ladies watches too. Might be a challenge finding a non-auto one though...but for ur consideration lo..

Got this recently for GF's sister. $202 van get from Wins United @ Bencoolen. Eco drive and looks a bit like those DW that are all the craze. Got date function too. Just note that there isn't a second hand.

you need to get us a budget to work with, bro.

also there's no perfect watch. that's why there so many brands & models.

truth be told, time is easily checked with the ubiquitous cell phone.

a watch is more jewellery than a tool now.

so, at the risk of being cheeky or offensive (which i do not mean), getting your lady something flashy, blingy and something she can show off to her gfs and family will not only give her much satisfaction, you'll be getting some serious bedroom action for quite a while too. instant status symbol for her & concrete proof of your love. she may say non-flashy, simple & durable, but as her man, pleasantly surprising her will get you boatloads of TLCs & ahems ahead...

with that in mind, may i suggest:
- a 2-tone (gold/steel) rolex lady datejust with diamonds (automatic only)
- a cartier tank (this is avail in automatic or quartz)
- an omega ladymatic in solid gold if you're feeling more generous.

the bling in them is enough to excuse any hassle your wife has to adjust them. if it still is, just buy her a watch winder to go with her automatic.

if she's not gonna melt with the above, stick to your original choices.

gents watches can accommodate a larger physical battery compared to a tiny one in ladies watches. larger battery = larger capacity.

tried it on my nomos (+20 spd) and it removed the magnetism totally according to my iphone magnetic sensor (its really sensitive)


tried it on my speedy pro (+66 spd) and it couldnt remove the magnetism after many many tries
think i'll have to visit swatch service ctr liao...
