Looks great on both watches really, but it complements the Pelagos a tad more imo.

a more considered answer:

it depends on what you already have, the genre of watches you prefer and your lifestyle.

the rolex oyster perpetual:
- is more of a casual, dress down, time only watch
- with only a 100m water resistance
- has a proven, bulletproof, workhorse movement that's rated +/- 2 sec/day accuracy and a comfortable service interval of 10 years (provided it passes it's QC, etc)
- has a simple clasp/bracelet with no comfort/micro-adjustment
- looks and feels thinner & lighter on-wrist

the omega seamaster professional:
- is a rated diver with date and elapsed time function from its unidirectional bezel
- with a 300m water resistance
- has a newer co-axial movement that's thicker but a shorter history compared to the OP's
- has diver's extension built into it's clasp/bracelet
- looks and feels beefier and more substantial on-wrist

if you're a younger, more active chap starting out on a serious watch collection, i'd suggest you start with a diver, as it can take more of a beating, projects your image accordingly and you'll feel more assured in any environment from the meeting room table to the pool table and the swimming pool.

black-dial divers like the sub/smp can also pull double duties in business suits and weekend activities.

if you already have a diver, and wishes to diversify, go for the OP. although i may suggest a leather band dress watch for those "serious, formal" occasions if you haven't got one already.

if you already have a diver, and is a dive watch lover, it's a no brainer - get another dive watch! roflmao.

my personal preference are the out-of-production sword hands, wave dial, big triangle ref 2254.50 seamaster professional chronometers and ref 2538.20 seamaster GMT chronometers with ETA 2892-A2 based movements that you can only get pre-owned now. a strong cult classic among dive watch lovers in-the-know.

you can also consider the tudor black bay or pelagos.

the OP is more suitable for casual settings. get it if you really love the design, look & feel. and if you've already accumulated your complement of diver, dress, chronograph, pilot, field/miltary, GMT, etc watches.

This Rolex model shud be able to get slightly higher than $6k. Agree if got $6k budget, go for rolex.
