The 114300 is really cool and I considered the blue dial version for awhile myself but oh my goodness it is hard to read.

For warranty matters, Gnomon helps you to settle if there's anything wrong with your watch. It's extra peace of mind.

If you buy directly from Steinhart, there's warranty too but you have to send it in yourself, together with any risks of damage that come along with it.

At least that's my understanding I bought all my 3 Steinhart watches - 1 from Steinhart directly and the other from Gnomon, and the 3rd one second hand.

y not have a chat with Gnomon to reduce their pricing ? I am pretty sure they could

Bought the SBGJ021 the AD gave me those. Guess they were part of the money that I've paid for!

my replies in blue.

I add on to above statement to look more, wear more talk more and absorb more. Be humble and you see and learn more things.

do go to Boutiques first to check out the prices. Wear the watches on your wrist . Dun be shy. (can try to wear a long sleeves shirt to have a 3 point feel on how the watch would look). wear it for several minutes even browsing in the shop.

I feel many just test it and take it off ...

then go to the AD to see and feel the watch and check the price and discounts. Of course discussed before do have a chat on pricing on credit card and cash and make your own evaluation which is better. If you feel your cash reserves is better to be used elsewhere then pay using methods some other seniors have mentioned before.

Lastly do have a price check on reputable grey dealers/ importers on imported sets.

After all above is done then you can decide yourself which is the best to choose. There is no right or wrong.

Rolex is very strict on their controlled prices esp sports model. but as said go more shops ... it might worth the legwork for a starter ...

my OP poison is the rolex oyster perpetual 116000 36mm Blue. i don't yet own one, but here's a pic of it:

i'd always felt the rolex explorer could do with a dial other than black. prior to the 2016 explorer, it had the 3, 6, 9 hour markers in white gold... hmmm... hard to read when light is reflecting off them... not a very sporty option in a sports watch, huh?

this 116000 with its lively sunburst blue dial and lumed 3, 6. 9 hour markers is the perfect alternative to the more boring explorer, imho, short of having a better clasp/bracelet with micro-adjustment.

comes only in 36mm but wears nicely on wrist with its understated dome bezel, clean, beautiful sunburst blue, easy to read dial and adequate lume!

Yeah that's a really nice "do everything" watch.

2 of my Bulang&Sons straps are now in a Fedex vehicle on the way for delivery. Thats super fast considering that i ordered the straps last friday and they were shipped from the Netherlands. Can't wait to receive them. Should be good

It's really my fault for not being careful but I guess it's a funny story.

I decided that the in-house BB was too chunky for me. Put it up for sale and received an offer almost immediately at a price I wasn't so sure about. Buyer was quite persistent and even played the sympathy card, "please I'm sincere but I'm just a student". So I thought, why not and accepted the offer of 3.6.

Drove over to the buyer's place and he inspected the watch. Wanted to cut down to $3450 because there were no hang tags(LMFAO) and there was a supposed ding on the bezel. Naturally, I refused but I had really long day so I offered to deal at $3550. Buyer said ok, gave me cash(although he offered pay via ibanking earlier) that was split up in a few stacks. Was talking to me about Speedmaster model numbers (3570.50, 311.30.42.30.01.005, etc) when I was counting, which kind of threw me off balance, but I'm very sure that I counted the right amount. What I had kinda noticed was that when I was sorting out the cash, he was moving the cash I had placed on the table around. I didn't think too much of it. When I went to deposit, I noticed that I only had $3250.

Sent that guy a message, no reply. Oh well, lesson learnt. Google'd his mobile number and found out that he's dappergentleman who used to frequent the Hair Thread and sells hair grooming products online. Strange, I'd think that one would use a seperate mobile number - you know that thing about shitting where you eat.
