Yesterday, I went to the Audemars Piguet Boutique at Liat Towers where fortunately, they had the boutique exclusive 15400ST.OO.1220ST.03 which was reserved and they offered to let me take a look.

Before talking about the watch, I wish to commend the staff there for their excellent service and warmth. For instance, I was offered a drink of my choice no less than 3 times, and there was no hesitation to show and introduce any available timepiece regardless of the dial colour or complications.

Unfortunately, I did not take a picture as I was too focused on the pattern of the dial, the satin-brushed finish and construction of the case and bracelet, and not forgetting, the gorgeous caseback which shows the coats of arms of the Audemars Piguet.

Jialat, it is a tough choice between the AP's Royal Oak (15400ST.OO.1220ST.03) and Patek's Aquanaut (5167A) to save for, but luckily, shouldn't have to make a decision any time soon.

Get the Sub no-date. Personally it looks better(if you can live without a date) and can be had brand new for much cheaper at $9.1k. You can also opt for the transitional models 14060 or also the SD 16600 if you prefer their proportions.

dial symmetry ftw! which is why the subtle date window with the date wheel in matching dial colour and lume pip at 3 o'clock of the omega seamaster 2254.50 & seamaster GMT 2538.20 are such winners!!!

as for rolexes, i'd rather give the rattling, el-cheapo, tin can feel, stamped metal clasps of older rolexes a miss unless you're a hardcore rolex collector, or are really in love with some older models.

the newer, milled rolex clasps are far, FAR superior in quality, look & feel by light years!

imho, there's only ONE AP RO to collect, and that's the jumbo ultra thin 39mm in blue dial that still use the original cal 2121. features a nicer rotor, too.

but if blue's not your thing and you prefer black or white, then settle for the non-original.
