From what I read, think the AP servicing scare is blown out of proportion. Your friend's piece was probably in bad shape, good to know the history and more details of what the servicing entailed. If take care of a brand new piece, say for a 3120 movement, overhaul after say 5-7 years should cost under $1500 which is reasonable for an AP.

Can try RSC and claim warranty? If ur case not dented etc, u can just try ur luck saying it fell out when u jogging etc

Dunno if rsc okay with just fixing hands. Last time i droppes my DJ, crystal cracked. RSC insisted i do overhaul or they wun replace crystal. Maybe its the warranty issue.
