indeed! it can appear anything from almost white to almost black under different lighting conditions. love it!

Battery is the usual CR flat button type that you can even buy from your HDB shop. Yo can see it from the exploded view. Supposed to last up to 2 years. Any watch shop should be able to change it. I emailed Alpina and they informed me international warranty is two years by FJ Benjamin (local distributor).
