Get a Seiko, Casio, Hamilton, you will have spare change for extra bracelet, rubber or leather, which you can change for different occasion or mood!

I always only set the watch before I wear.. Haha. But if you use winder or have a lot of vintage with no quickset date then I guess it's better to have it wound.
