Hi can I ask do people prefer to buy from hourglass/Cortina rather than the actual retail, for e.g. Rolex? What's the difference besides Hourglass/Cortina offers more selection of watches? If i already have something in mind, is it better if I go straight to the direct retailer?

It’s your choice lor, simple economics. How much you value a Rolex warranty vs the price differential, or in this case, how much you value getting the watch faster these days for popular Rolex model.

Then you have total tools that go because they pay until damn song. Usually rich people spending other people’s money but acting big. Some of these people only post occasionally when daddy out of country, quickly steal watch to wear..

If by retail you meant brand boutique then usually AD (hourglass/cortina) offers better discount. Some Brands offer some unique pieces in their boutiques like Lange and AP.

If you talk about rolex sports model then not much difference in term of price. All will be retail. The problem is stock. Most of them will be out of stock or has a long (think few years) wait list.
