hi all,

as the title suggests, i intend to buy myself a graduation gift and have been looking into omega for a while. i haven't really visited any physical boutiques or AD, more of reading up online reviews.

i intend to buy my new piece from local ADs soon. is hourglass a good AD? or should i be looking elsewhere?

It's been a while, but there were some discounts you can get. As others mentioned, it comes down to how well you negotiate and know the staffs or a managers.

For Rolex, discounting usually worked this way and depending on models. Now, it may not apply at all, but late last year, I was able to push it down to 11% (first time visitor to a shop). Not a sports model.

If they see you are serious buyer, 7% off is norm.
Push hard, can go down to 11%
If you are a good customer and knows you well, possible to push to 15%.
If manager knows you really well and likes you, 21%, but very rare.

Again, it all depends on models and stock level.

When I got my GMT 2, I got a good deal of ~$8k+ in 2010. I paid with Amex then.

i called one of the hourglass outlets sometime ago and was told that 7% off was the "allowed" discount. not sure what they meant by that since the boutique would be cut off if AD started offering discounts.

guess its time to start visiting stores...

but what are the staff losing when they offer discounts? i'm guessing its the commission and that's pretty much it right?

on phone they wont give you one la.

just go and ask around, take a weekend, go walk around.

depends what model you want, i can ask my SA for you. but you do your own survey first.

If u guys want i can help yall get from HK AD, cheaper than sg by quite alot and sometimes they have enough stock of the LE and SE to go around and can discount. For seiko.

Go to the shops. Talk to the sales. If you feel comfortable with them then u talk prices. A lot of it is based on relationship/fate. Same shop, same sales can offer different discount for the same model on different day or different ppl. There is no fixed discount one. Most important thing is you happy with what you got and you feel you have been treated fairly.

There will always be another guy who got more discount than you or more free gift. No point keep comparing. Luxury is about the experience. Enjoy it!

Why not. True watch lovers don’t look at cost. The F91W is a very capable piece with its own type of heritage. Anyone who turns their noses up at it clearly don’t really appreciate watches.

ahh def agree with you. kinda meant it as a passing comment/joke. i know the people here are true watch lovers

the F91W was my very first watch. i still remember where my dad bought it for me. but that was a really different Singapore back then already. Just thinking about it brings back alot of memories.
