hi all, been reading this thread for awhile now and i'm now only starting my first purchase of watches. i felt that it was time to leave behind the gimmicky world of smartwatches as it can't really last me that long.

looking at seiko watches for a start. already looked at pictures and videos of the ssc017 and i seem to like it. would love your opinions on this from a beginners point of view? thanks!

Have you tried it on your wrist? That’s quite a big watch! You are looking for a solar quartz?

Why not an automatic?

thanks for the reply.

i'm just leading more to the batman colorway of the watch and something different from the SRPA21. would it be something to have the SRPA21 and the SSC017 as it differs in style, design and also auto/solar?

currently using something that is a 46mm bezel so i don't think size is the issue here.

I've seen it in person before on the bus and it was a lady who wore it. It definitely stands out due to its thickness. Its face is too much for my liking but to each his own.

Yeah, quite recent. Really like it. Relatively unique design (of course a lot of derived DNA) with its own flavor.

The movement running well, and I think second hand price is OK. I won't pay first hand price haha.

This is a very value for money piece, make sure you get a good price $380 or less, but take note and make sure you like the hands and their length. I thought I liked (used to have the steel version) but sold it later on.

its an orient star, I reckon it's unlikely to get it at $380 for brand new when the list price is probably 700-800+. perhaps you've mistaken it for the regular orient that looks similar.

Lol, look on Carousell la. Orient Star discount very high one, if you go across the Causeway.

I got mine brand new at $380. I think can get lower than that, didn't bargain very hard. And proven to be authentic, Big Time happily fixed an issue with the power reserve indicator for me..

Good to have watches of different colours and style. Remember to try it on and feel the watch!
