1k+ plus watch, mai hiam. seiko movements are proven workhorse.
at least it's in house

compared to entry level swiss using eta

As the market has adjusted Seiko's expectation of the mm300 acceptable pricing down to near $4k, the rest of the prospex range will follow.
Considering the Capt Willard and 62mas reissues are this year's hits in spite of the mid 1k price tags tells you this is an acceptable price bracket for the masses.

Actually I've been thinking about it and I'm not that sure that Seiko's value for money has been reduced that much. I think people tend to put a halo on watches like SKX007 or SRP777 when they forget that for the longest time, Seiko never had sapphire crystals. Of course, the material cost isn't going to be that different.

What about watches like the higher end Tunas? When you look at it, SBBN033 or SBBN035 were really "expensive" for what they are in terms of paper specs.

I would argue that a SPB143 is better value than my quartz Tuna actually... But no way I'm letting go of my SBBN033.

Anyways, I'm sure the street prices will go down slowly after a year. New watch sure pay more, unless it's so hyped that the demand far outstrips supply for an extended period of time - which usually won't be the case once Seiko releases the next big thing.

Add diashield, upgrade lume, sapphire lor. Can't remember the changes, but at least they change/"upgrade" something... Swiss brands change nothing and up the prices mar.
