you may want to do some research and share more. <1k has too many choices.

some qns you need to narrow down.
1. Brand? Must be well know in your social circle?
2. Automatic vs quartz?
3. Size? 40mm or 48mm?
4. Chrono or just date?
5. Water resistance? 50m? 100m or 200?
6. Style? Eg Dress watch or pilot or dive style

Start with a Seiko, and see if automatic/handwind watches suit u or not. The Seiko cocktail series are less than 1k and looks classy and dressy for meeting clients and corporate events.
