A better value will be one of the Zenith Pilot watch like the Pilot Big Date: Zenith Watches

Comes with see thru caseback so you can enjoy the EP movement. Only Zenith can have the word 'Pilot' on the dial. Bracelet/strap version to choose from. And I'm guessing you will have enough money leftover to buy something else.

is this priced lower than the 3777?

I don't know the price of 3777 but IWC tends to be priced on the high side. The Pilot Big Date is around $7K for the strap version and a little more for the bracelet. It has nice big lume too. Go see it in person at ADs.

Thanks for the advice guys :)

I'm not looking to spend more than 5k actually just a poor poor boy here=:p

But my parents will be in germany for some time so was looking forward to ask them help me buy one back as i know the tax rebate is quite a substantial amount...

So in comparison to IWC, zenith watches are more recommended here?

Currently in oversea, using my mobile camera and using 3G so tried to limit the photo size. The watch looks better when u are wearing it. :D

Got the watch in 2010 or 2011 in SG. Initially wasn't looking for Rolex, cause my perception of Rolex was for old man :D Went to my AD friend n he showed me this white explorer 2. Found it good looking and white dial which I had not owned any white dial so didn't compare much on the price and paid up.

explorer 2 is a nice watch plus now got upgraded to 42mm case plus orange hand swee.... just bought my first submariner not long ago....

Is that Sub TT the new one with the sun-burst dial? :)
I read in other forums Rolex is changing the dial from solid blue to sun-burst blue for this model.

Under 10k iwc u are getting a custom mod eta by swatch. Iwc just do the assembly and the marketing.
Zenith u are getting proven in house movement.

Going Germany look at German brands. Sinn is one but looking to spend a max of 5k try below brands
- Dornblueth & Sohn ( well decorated make only ~300 watch a yr)
- nomos
- maybe just maybe u can afford the cheapest GO glashutte original watch senator hand date

You should ask your parents in Germany to get you a Nomos instead. Nomos are much cheaper to get in Germany than any part of the world. :)

anyone knows if it is even worth it to buy a watch from DFS?

Pop by earlier to see Omega watches. 5% Discount and 8% for 10K above

Is it a good price to begin with? Thanks

with a 5k budget, he can get the nomos as a dress watch and a sinn as his tool watch

Not really if he is eyeing on a nomos with date and auto function.
A Tangomat Datum will be ~sgd$4k at only 38mm a nicer Zurich will be ~$5k Liao and its closer to 40mm.I know nomos wear big still many eye for a 40mm watch.
A 38 mm Orion or Ludwig manual display back will free up more $$ for a nicer Sinn ie the U1.

Just checked out the collection at NOMOS, not very to much taste im afraid :s12:

Not particularly looking for a dress watch, more of just a simple can go work/easy with clothes type...

Thus i'm afraid to admit i'm more of a visual creature when it comes down to buying watches :s22:

Originally intended to go for a speedmaster, however upon the knowledge of pilot watches i up my budget a bit to fit the bill but want to hear the opinions of others and learn a thing or two before i make the purchase :)

Nomos is for ppl that enjoy a clean cut design.
If u like many sub dials u hate it, u are aiming for a chrono.

Go for a guinand, u have to visit their factory to buy no AD in German.
GUINAND-UHREN Helmut Sinn GmbH - 41.51-01 w

Maybe stowa but also must visit factory
Chronographs - STOWA GmbH & Co.KG

Or go for Sinn 103, Sinn 356, Sinn 358, Sinn 6100, Sinn 6000.

Willing to up budget go get a zenith at collectorstime

I am planning to send my IWC Portuguese for a polishing. Any recommendation? Should I send it back to IWC directly? Thanks.
