I think Maurice Lacroix has excellent design and craftmanship, but the actual watch value is very subjective and resale value is vulnerable to severe swings.

The company's direction and branding is a little unstable through this transitional phase.

But i would recommend it if you are not concerned with what i have said.

i've seen the ml pontos in person. i really like the fit and everything. just don't really like the price.. $2.6k after 20%discount.<br />
<br />
recently saw this hamilton. Its a beauty too. but still its slightly over budget at $1.9k<br />
<br />

A 7750 would have cost ~us$500 if they are selling the movement. A H32 mod 7750 will cost more. Over close to 2k expected from AD.

ML pontos is a entry level collection, ML didn't position at the level with Tissot or Hamilton

Design competitions normally don't care about the size, unless it is very extreme.

I think that most ang mos would find Nomos a bit small, too. ..

Good design award focus on function and aesthetic.
Size is part of the consideration.

Nice read on www.chi-athenaeum.org/gdesign

Working in states don't feel like ppl common ppl has a strong feeling towards bigger watch

When prices go up for brands.....is it a local phenomenon or is it happening worldwide?
It's like how vw's prices keep increasing in Singapore while it is still a bread and butter car back in their homeland.

A little googling/wiki-ing revealed some interesting facts about ML -

"Maurice Lacroix was founded as part of Desco von Schulthess of Zurich in 1975. ... in 1961 Desco acquired an assembly facility named Tiara in Saignelégier, in the Swiss Canton of Jura. There it produced private label watches for third parties. In 1975, Desco started marketing watches under the brand name Maurice Lacroix. ... the brand Maurice Lacroix does not correspond to any one individual."

So good ol' Maurice is a fictional character born in 1975. Somewhat similar to the 25 yr old Freddy Constant?

Hi. I have recently receive a Tissot Visodate ( Automatic watch) for my Birthday. Since it is my first Automatic watch, I was wondering if there is any tips in taking care of an automatic watch. I'm not a total novice especially in Automatic watch but would like to get more educated on how to properly take care of my watch. Thanks :)
I think it can pretty much take care of itself.

The obvious: don't knock it against hard surfaces, try not to drop it on concrete, don't go swimming in it.

Not so obvious: it needs servicing about every 5 years - this is the recurring cost of owning mechanical watches that doesn't seem to get discussed alot.

Luxury watch coys across the board are increasing prices

But for MLC to raise prices significantly much more than other comparable brands like Hamilton, Tissot, Longines, Rado, Fortis, Oris....within a span of few years, without any brand credibility, is ridiculous.

A standard, stylish and entry lvl Maurice Lacroix dress watch sells for $3.3k retail now.

Their equivalent models are retailing at the same price as Baume & Merciers'.
:s22:

For heritage and history, long term company survivability, prestige...its wiser to go with b&m

And this was selling at 50% off at 1 point in time, a few years back at MLC boutique/Cortina

This watch was selling at a damn cheap price too, but nobody wanted it

Where's the best place to get a Tissot automatci?

I checked that the Tissot Le Locle and Visodate in shops, so far about $680 and $780 respectively. Also interested in the PRC200 Automatic, but haven't seen one so far...

What la? which grey have u got b4?
Typically No warranty from watch maker just grey dealer.
AD does not stamp the warranty card when letting the watch go at steep discount.

Hmm. Usually how much discount ?

This gets ignored most of the times. Ppl don't really service their watch. Thinking as longs it runs keep time why need service. Strange why ppl don't think that with cars. Still run but still do oil change

Swatch group is rather strict & control std discount across all AD on their brands. Unless u opt for online or buy at airport departure (minus 7% off GST), it applies the same for all here.

The only possible reason is to level UP their prestige & image for ML. But for the significant jump on the pricing...... one has to think otherwise if worth paying... their designs are mainly modern contemporary. I will also opt for B&M or Longines for similar price range.
