Hello guys,

I've just purchased a Baume & Mercier Clifton today! I have to send it in for alteration of the strap because of my small wrist size. Can't wait to collect it!

Any dos/don'ts for a mechanical first timer? Am I supposed to wind my watch to the maximum and leave it before using it for the first time?

Thanks!

Regards
Only one word of advise.... Don't drop or otherwise subject your mechanical watch to physical shock of any kind..

Which one? Baume & Mercier Clifton collection has so many types. U don't have to wind and leave it 1st.
2824 family has date setting restrictions SW 300 or eta 2892 not sure.

Don't put on top or near speakers or any magnets, no golfing with watch on,

Thanks.

Moi also looking for strap and a bezel protector.

:)

Doesn't your 312 come with a rubber bezel protector? Or you mean one which you can put it on all the time?

IMHO, no need lor.. will kena scratches somehow one.. just live and let live.. and enjoy the watch! Polish the watch only when you send it in for servicing!

Do u really need a watch winder ?

A lot of SAs do not encourage the use of a watch winder.

Servicing will be a long wait. Changing of liquid needs to be done in Germany. At least three months of waiting time. but having said that, just buy what u like. Worry abt the rest when the time comes.

if you're thinking like this you might have buyer's regret later on. you probably didn't want the watch as much as you think you do.

Used Sinn u1 on sale at sgroc @2500. Getting a used one can shave you off a thousand or two. Pros and cons weigh yourself.

Nonetheless, your motto should be.. You only live once. Buy it, wear it, apologize to your commanding officer later. Lol

haha you can find the rubber bezel protector online.. seen people selling it before at around $30+

i usually get my straps from a private dealer online... can use can already... the strap which can fit a deployment buckle is slightly thinner, IIRC. so it might not fit the usual tang buckle... which means gotta buy more straps if you wanna have both types of buckles! :D

but yes, i agree with you on the changing of colour/type of strap to suit the "mood" and occasion... haha but i mostly wear my 312 with a mustard colour strap these days..

enjoy your hunt for straps and all! :D
