discount is not standard across all watch brands or even watch lines within a brand, and it will vary depending on several factors like distributor discount guidelines, sales quota, price increase, etc.

eg, a 25% can be extended for rolex gold pieces at ADs, but you'll be lucky to get a 5% discount on their sports models there.

the 13% happen to be the discount for cash only for the omega speedmaster pro at the ppc ad. that is not the discount for the tudor bb, which is lesser.

Very true. At one point in time, most ADs won't even give any discount on the GMT Master II and Sub cos of the high demand. You'll be put on a waiting list and the moment the watch is in Singapore, it's snapped up.

There's no denying the quality of the OQ movement and the case and bracelet design make it one of the (if not THE) most comfortable watches I've ever strapped on. It feels GREAT on the wrist!

In this case I admit the deal killer for me has been the rolex name. I have a strict policy of buying and wearing watches just for myself and couldn't give a flying fig what anybody thinks. However I owned a rolex sub for a while and really started getting tired of the comments about it. I've owned more expensive and certainly rarer timepieces and none ever got a second glance...but the constant "is that thing REAL???" interjections in the middle of conversations got embarrassing. Obviously it is exactly this type of attention that makes most folks want a rolex in the first place, but for me I like to talk watches with others who appreciate them and found that all anyone ever wanted to know about the rolex was how much it cost and therefore if I would be picking up the bar tab

What's worse is that there's so many fakes that many people assume the rolex you're wearing is too. Okay, no big deal, let them think it's fake and I can finish my dinner....except what makes this bad is that they actually expect you to prove to them that it's not! It's like being called into questioning, being put under hot lights and being asked to prove your innocence. This is why I just got to the point that when asked about my sub I would answer "oh, this is just a $5 knockoff I bought in chinatown" and let the debate end there.

I guess I feel that wearing an OQ is asking for this type of trouble times ten. I can't imagine having to explain to folks over and over why my rolex "ticks". This is also why I can't believe rolex will release another OQ in the near future. They have such a lock on public perception and brand name status that in my opinion a modern quartz model simply would not be to their marketing benefit. Of course I could be wrong and these are just my inane ramblings. In the end it's a great watch and if your friend loves it then that's all that's important.

I am planning to get a submariner from the AD soon and in the meanwhile, reading more about the watch's history and details online.

I'm curious about the short tick markers between the 0-15min mark on the bezel. Do these tick marks serve any purposes or merely aesthetic?

Mega poison! But yes, the quote you mentioned is one of the alluring things about the OQ. It's remarkably rare by Rolex standards and is really unique. They're not that expensive by Rolex standards too

The movement of chrono watches are really beautiful. I'm not much of a fan of chronos but love how the movement look. Much prettier than the non-chrono movements.

If I'm to get the Moonwatch, it'll definitely be this version. Why hide such a pretty movement?
