Nice! One of my fave fr JLC. The 2013 model w/o power reserve and 1mm smaller is one of my targets! Moving target that cannot hit haha

It's thanks to the advice from bro yatto to try on the watch before deciding that I decided on the master calendar. It's a really beautiful piece.

I went to see the new master calendar too, but it looks very similar to the old Eta 1100 w triple date. I wanted something different so I went with the older model. I also had a crappy experience with the SA when I went to view, so that affected my decision I think.

Where and when did u buy? Still managed to find the old model? I remember early last year, most of the SS master calendar on strap were already sold out at the ADs as no more new stock since the new model was coming out.

If u don't mind can PM me on prices of the new/old master calendar based on your experience and AD discounts offered? Thanks.

It's always comforting to have something nice to look at during a difficult monday.

Totally agree. When the stress level goes up for me, I usually look at my watch to remind myself why I should suck it up and move on. As much as I enjoy cars and photography, my watch is the one that accompanies me everywhere I go, including work. This is one of the main reasons why I prefer to reward myself with a watch.

G7900-1 - Classic - Mens Watches | Casio - G-Shock

most bizarre thing:
almost no one is making an effort to search for the bloody black box

but anyway, i also distant myself from the news.

the G7900 G shock very unique...a red bottom right button

Henabi kor kor..I think they are trying to find anything..anything at all that is from the plane. But they can't find a single thing, one even a piece of scrap metal. It's like the plane just diappear into thin air :(:(:(

Do you prefer the more dressy FC or sporty looking longines? It depends on which you prefer or lack in your collection.

Have not seen the Longines physically but I have experience with the F.C. Really smooth looking piece, feels v nice in the hands as well. Watch newbie here so probably can only comment on aesthetics lol.

Maybe the experts here can help advise on other recommendations and movement on the above 2.

I am leaning to the FC right now, want to seek any other recommendation as a option which i might not have came across.

In terms of brand recognition longines > FC.

Movement wise FC's in house compared to longines's valjoux based mod. In house is ultimately what WIS look out for but then you have the durability and reliability of a valjoux.

At 5k and looking for a moonphase these two models (and the longines other moonphase) are probably your best bet.

FC looks like the JLC MUT moonphase which some hate and deride while others like me rejoice for a similar look but at a more affordable price point.

Longines > FC..? Can I also ask in term of brand recognition, how does Maurice Lacroix compare to these 2 brands..? Longines > ML > FC..?

Longines will beat those two in brand recognition purely because Longines has been around much longer and advertising wise they are more visible, with more prominent ambassadors like Aaron Kwok.

I suggest that you try on both in the boutique itself.

Personally I tried both and found the longines to be abit too cluttered for my liking. I preferred FC due to the clean dial design. However at 42mm, I think it wears slightly large on my skinny wrist, as a dress watch Check out baume and mercier Clifton too.

Take your pick if you would like to use brand ambassadors as a proxy to brand recognition

Friends | Maurice Lacroix

Frédérique Constant | PERSONALITIES

Aaron Kwok Fu Shing - Ambassadors - The Longines Universe - Longines Swiss Watchmakers since 1832

Longines is well-known to have the "foresight" to target asian market quite early on and they are indeed a popular and well-recognised brand in Asia.
