Jaded by the elites!? Don't be. I bought my own first Rolex 10 years after I started working. :)

Agree. No reason to be 'jaded' and no reason to keep up with the Joneses. I've been in the workforce over 20yrs and never yearned for a Rolex (and will never own one) - because there are other luxury watches that tickle my fancy :)

Spending 10k of your money if it's really spare cash is fine by me. If its hard earned saving, then I'd really recommend to hold it. We may be young right now and the temptation to live a glitzy lifestyle is very real. But I'd rather save up more during my productive years and retire early just like what my parents did.

Honestly IMO, a kid at 20 buying a 10k watch or any luxury item is a big question mark. I'd never let my kids do that unless it's their money and its their spare cash, then it's their choice.

No offense meant against anyone, just my opinion :o

See a lot of Rolexes being posted. Also my experience from sightings in the wild, Rolexes the most. Would like to see more Tags, Pam's, APs, and even some less common JLCs, Zeniths, IWCs, Pateks and ALS if any?.....come on when I go out I do a lot of watch spotting, I look at wrists and am often bored. Show your haute horology here, spread the passion..hee hee. :s12:

I'll contribute, just got this a week ago.

I've been reading and just started working about a year plus, love looking at watches, admiring them and be jealous. Looking forward to own my own Rolex one day. My most recent buy, few days ago..

There's quite a few AP around strangely. PP, ALS and rare PAMs are the minority here, considering the price of one.

I think almost no zenith, GO, UN in this forum though.

Nice submersible, I hardly see anyone wearing it. Normally ppl go for luminor or radiomir. Why did u go for this ?

Yeah...APs are quite a favorite in Sg I notice. Yeah the rest you mentioned are almost non existent. Swx lists them though, but don't see them here or in the wild....hence I'm trying to dig them out.

Why I went for the sub? Just like it, and it's titanium, always wanted a titanium one. I don't like the other ranges in Panerai.

There are stowa, steinhart, orient, gshocks, seikos, grand seikos and others shared here too. Horology is not necessarily about big swiss or german brands only..

I never knew Pam subs are titanium

I think they'd look great in shark mesh though rather than leather or rubber straps

I believe the reply from AP boutique is correct, as the original selling price includes 22% of VAT. Assuming a full 22% VAT reduction, the effective discount for VAT refund is 18.03%. However, we have to take into account the admin fees imposed by companies handling VAT refund. In addition, some stores help themselves to extra profit by taking a share of the VAT refund. As such, the exact VAT refund varies from stores as well.

The value of the product does affect the % of VAT refunded. Usually, less than 10,000 Eur in Milan u will get back less than 15.5% and above that figure, 17% or a little more.

emailed the AP boutique in Milan. this is their reply

"Regarding the TAX refund we give you back all the VAT. Deducting 22% from the public price means a corrisponding discount of 18,03 % . Ex 19.900/1,22 = 16.311 (16311/19900)-1= 18,03%"

so the RRP = 122%. they deduct from there. the corresponding "discount" so to speak, is about 18.03%

but i got a totally different reply from the JLC boutique, which told me this:

- as a non-EU resident you can get a 15,5 % of Global Blue Tax Refund (in this case the value is € 2.967,00 on the retail price and you will be refunded one month later on your credit card)

so.. yes i'm still perturbed. i dont know whether the quantum of refund depends on the amount expenditure..?
