yahlo think thats the story behind bah, not so sure abt it but agar agar is i think the 3570.50 more represent the moonwatch. anyway both is abt the same except for the case and case back, sapphire and hesalite.

price diff retail abt 1.2k

Unfortunately all Modern rolex will never ever reach the status the vintage rolex command today. Modern subs were and are still produced and sold in the millions. Nothing rare about those.

6694 is probably the only rolex vintage I can see myself getting due to the lower price (and therefore risk).

Love vintage sports rolex but is an area too challenging to venture into. E.g. finding an even patina for markers + hands, original vs service bezel. Chances are a good vintage sports rolex with full original parts will probably come with a hefty price tag.

Keep your rolex + accesories, receipts and all in good condition and they have the potential to be the vintage of tomorrow!

There's a certain charm about vintages so if I were to buy myself a vintage..go for 6694? Or are there other models that are also okay to purchase?

-As for servicing cost for vintages, how much more compared to new? Is there a rough gauge?

- For vintages- get them serviced every 5 years as per recommended for new or they require more frequent servicing??

it's no coincidence that the HESALite crystal needs the HASSLE of mending the easily scratched crystal using polywatch.

that is the kind of authenticity i can do without.

the sandwich has scratch resistant sapphire for the crystal and caseback, allowing one to admire its movement.

Just found out that there is an AirKing-Date version produced in 1985.

I will usually look for those which has been serviced recently. that will give me a piece of mind that the watch will be able to last another few good yrs before the next servicing.

found one sub 16800 circa 1985 online...and the shop is the one I visited last sat at level 02. but I don't remember seeing a circa 1985 sub there...

The warm effect when looking through a haselite is a nicer feeling than a cold sapphire glass. Nevertheless I agree that it's a darn hassle to own and polish.

hesalite (aka atas plastic) was originally used on the moonwatch & qualified for all space flight because plastic won't shatter into tiny pieces on impact.

I think the sub 14060M that is COSC-certified (i.e. no date 4 line w/o C bezel) has some collectibility potential (in the long run of course). It had a relatively short life span from around 2007-early 2012 and it's production is typically less than the sub date which is more popular.

Not holding my breath for it or going to "invest" in 1, but just an observation and only time will tell if I got it right or not.

Does RSC authenticate 6694? I heard alot of franken 6694 around..

Have been tempted many times by the "affordability". A beautiful vintage with minimised fragility.

They do. I asked before and they said that they can even authenticate 1960s Rolex. But best is to call to confirm

Guys, what do you call the edge of the bezel? The indents around the bezel. I realise that the submariner bezel indents really makes the watch stand out. The pelagos one too fine already but that might be how it maintain its stealth.
