somehow it is more forgiving and acceptable for a gal with a small wrist to wear a big watch, it's just a matter of her comfort level. But i can't say the same for guys though. Can't imagine myself wearing anything more than 44mm...

Haha, I like bigger face watches but just that I want to make sure that I'm the one wearing the watch not the watch wearing me lol.

I have to admit that I don't really know how to appreciate Nomos's design. It's not like its ugly or anything but just not really my kind of thing.

actually shoes I only buy one pair a year during robinsons sale....... and around $200.

cannot bear to spend too much on shoes leh. everyday step here and there on them. but i agree nice shoes do complete the look.

From the pics you post before, I believe u tailor your work shirts and u mentioned about the H belt too.. and obviously the PP. Will be quite a letdown if the entire smart look finishes off with a pair of poor quality leather shoes (and worse if badly maintained).

Just saying la for your consideration since it's definitely not about affordability in your case :)

minimalistic type of design. Not to everyone's liking and certainly not the current in-thing.

Actually I think its more your own comfort level and what kind of dressing you pair your watch with. I have a very small wrist - 6.5 inches and I am now used to wearing 44mm watches. Anything below 42mm I will feel its too small.

However, I also have larger watches which I must admit, is worn to attract attention and its also a great conversation piece, like this 57.7mm piece -

The watch also ticks pretty loud ... like a bomb waiting to go off!

However, in casual dressing, I feel quite confident wearing this.

perpetual for that price... hard to complain lar :s13:

True also, but as usual lah, when brands do not have history to back them up they will use design, looks, features and functions, etc to back their watches so as to provide as much value as they can to buyers. Good for us too. :D

That's because when we wear such big watches, the watch will have an overwhelming effect on the wrist which it is being worn. Hence when girls wear men sized watches, the big size makes their wrist looks more feminine and that's why it looks good.

But when a guy does the same, the guy's wrist will look feminine and weak so not as flattering or appealing. Same effect different results.

Life is unfair towards guys one lah. When two girls kiss it's kinky, when two guys kiss it's gross (no offense to any non-straight guys if you are reading this). When two girls hold hands it's normal, when two guys do the same we will raise our eyebrow. =:p

i'm all for bauhaus minimalism aesthetics, the zen look, "less is more", form follows function, etc...

... but nomos ultra skinny fonts and hands just makes the watch looks too fragile and not pleasant to read off from.

ymmv.

EDMW Watch Gathering

As above, I propose our 1st gathering to be on 29 Mar, Sat afternoon. Probably 1pm-ish till late noon so evening onwards can accompany family, gf, friends, etc.

Venue: Open to suggestions. Somewhere affordable, comfortable, indoors where we can meet away from prying eyes.

Objective: To put a face to our nicks/facilitate watch discussion/share lobangs on watches or otherwise/hands holding, networking, etc.

Anyone in this thread is invited and encouraged to join, regardless what kind of watch you are wearing. I think we generally don't ostracize the brand, type, etc.

Will start a new thread to facilitate discussions once the gathering is confirmed with a healthy number of participants so it doesn't get overwhelmed by the crazy number of posts update daily.

Add your nicks to your list if you are able to make it.
