Over priced for whatever the watch maker has to offer. Watches in the 1k to 5k range don't value add much to their watch after putting in a stock eta. So, it doesn't really worth the money to spend 5k on an exact same movement when you can get some under 1k. Or use the 5k on a vintage respectable brand

its nt just the movement, its the overall package. one can even spend few k on quartz watch also, how to justify?

Since there were some discussions on Orient watches recently, let me share a couple of pics of my discontinued Orient Star.

not Seiko?
seiko group acquire Orient to increase their production.

I think seiko acquired orient to obtain their mechanical watch making abilities unlike Swatch group, seiko allowed orient watch to stand alone as an individual ltd corp...

Bezel can be rotated :D

Not really sure bout the GMT function as I do not see an additional hand.. Noob here.. Hee :o

Yeah. the bezel has cities around the world etched on it so it feels like for some world time purpose but at the same time I couldn't locate an additional hand.

Perhaps the design is just to allow u to rotate to your own location and the infer time zone in another city by yourself from there on.

In any case, interesting piece and enjoy the watch!

Hope this piece can stop the BBB (Buy Buy Buy) itch for a while... :o

For NATO straps can try Gnomon watches.

On the MB perpetual calendar, it's being positioned as an affordable mechanical movement perpetual calendar (perhaps the most affordable for a swiss movement?). If that (and the overall design, brand etc) excites you, then it's your thing. Personally I cannot quite understand MB's strategy here.

As an analogy, it's like a Korean car brand launching a "supercar standard" car. All the specs meet a supercar standard, just lacking the fanciful and conspicuous german or italian logo on the hood/bonnet and selling at a much lower price. The Korean supercar may be perfectly comparable but how many people (and equally important what segment of people) will take the plunge?
