Coincidentally, these 2 brands are my first luxury brands purchased. Both are iconic with illustrious histories. But I agree with All In A Day, go with EP movement for Zenith and avoid cobrand for the JLC.

My first few watches were all lower-end vintage ones circa 1940-1950s. Elgins, Hamiltons, Gruens, Omegas, etc. I love the look during that era. Then I went into a Cartier phase. Now a bit more varied and start to learn more about the history and movements.

Usually warranty only covers manufacturing failure of the watch.You can go back to the service centre if you want to do the change. But I'll just head down to any watch shop if I were you. Check if they can get the battery changed for you and just pick any aftermarket leather strap that the shop sells.

Don't worry about prelims even if you fail, I flung all my prelims paper LOL. The most important is the final papers.

I wanted to get the El Primero for Zeniths but most of the sizes are 44mm which I realised is too big for my wrist. I love my Pam but my wrist aches and I tend to bump against things. Also, the EP dials are on the busy side. The only one I found with EP and is a 40mm size is this one (but a lot of things on the dial):

from what I can gather, u left out another important criteria: which is u probably prefer a black dial watch. While you mentioned about dials being too busy, none of your choices so far are simple time/date combinations either.
Watches with slightly more complications may tend to go beyond 40mm by today's standards..

But not to worry I believe there are still many choices out there. Do check out some of the brands I suggested. I do like JLC Master series and GO alot, though GO black dial models aren't their popular ones. Zenith EP I find most dont' look good actually... just that movement is iconic...

Go to analog/shift for vintage pieces. Some are pretty reasonable price.

The 'culture' of this thread is that most people here r friendly and helpful, experienced it myself when I first learned about watches in HWZ.

We can agree to disagree and the best part is no matter what watch you wear or buy- you are treated with respect. The big brothers here with their PP and ALS etc have no airs. Can talk about anything watch under the sun from G shocks to the ultra atas watches.

I have a 20 year old seiko kinetic.

Believe that the internal capacitor is spoilt already; can't store kinetic energy as well.

Other than gng back to seiko which I believe could be costly, any other place I can go to for repairs
