why not?
in 1990 3 sweets cost 10cents
now 10c can hardly buy anything
cos money become smaller
while I agree with you about inflation and that the price of new watches is forever climbing, your optimism for the prices of preowned watches is a little too...... optimistic.
Have you asked any reputable watch shops to verify the selling price? Or have you checked out sgrolexclub and swx.com for price comparison?
I have bought and sold watches over the years, not many, but enough to not be overly optimistic.
My MIL's TT datejust with mother of pearl dial and diamond markers - she bought from switzerland in 1992 about 10k+. Currently preowned shops like KOH watches only offered her 6k - I put it up on sg-roc for around that amount and NOBODY made an offer.
My corum bubble skeleton which I bought circa 2006 for almost 7k could only fetch 3k last year.
My Azimuth Mr Roboto which I bought for around 4.5k circa 2008 could only fetch 2.7k early this year.
My Azimth Roulette (ltd ed) which I bought for 3.2k in 2011 could only fetch ~2k last year.
While one may argue the above watches were not really big brands in high demand like a Rolex or Panerai, the reality isn't too far away (note the case of my MIL's rolex).
Only for my Rolex daytona (TT, diamond markers) and Daydate president (full YG) did not lose much but they were both preowned to start with.
We love our watches, especially the emotions and memories that come with them. To commemorate a special day, event, or just for the heck of it (e.g. Iceflight and Triste). Resale or not..... probably the least of our concerns. I sold my watches because it was getting almost no wrist time. So free up some funds for new poison.
Welcome to the thread and we hope you enjoy your stay here

Plenty of fun and poison (and funny pictures LOL)...... and do share wristshots anytime!
Godspeed!
