how do you bros take good care of your watch? any tips to share?

like prevent scratches/scuffs/damage?

random: I just noticed the movement parts inside my Seiko has some hairline scratches on them, is it normal for you guys who has a Seiko watch?

Mine's the SNZG15J1, just bought on sat only, 7S36C movement.

Relax.. it's part and parcel for watches to get knocks and scratches. All of my watches have scars.. and I can't be bothered to get them polished as yet... Haha.

If it's any form of consolation, I got used to the presence of these scratches and they are there because I wear the watch.. not the other way round.

nice design .. but i can't stand the clunking sound of the rotor wheel.. or something like that.

Anyway.. the 2 orients i have is silent ..

Is this treat for those branded watch only the rich people can afford? ...

Parnis got many movements, depends on which movement u buy

Which watch, jewelry, hand phone, tablet won't scratch? I don't know where people get the idea that a watch can be scratch free....yah unless it's in the safe, or made of.............this

scratches (by urself) makes the watch truely yours!!!!

Ppl who likes watches will notice.. I even pause tvb drama to see what watch the actor or actress wear.

LOL....

I also have this habit. In fact, l also like reading and pens (especially fountain pens ), so I will also tend to notice what kind of the watch the person is wearing, the pen using and the book or article he /she is reading .

In fact, if I find any one of the items are interesting, l will tend to take a look at the items more but not too obvious to let that person knows.

if you haven't made up your mind, you may want to consider saving up and stretching for this:

I have also considered this watch as well, but

1. Given its price, I am more likely to buy a Tissot "Le Lecole " watch first.

2. Unsure of its weight. I have tried wearing Seiko sumarai watch before it was discontinued. The watch... was.... heavy.... now I also felt that orange monster with bracelet was heavy compared to skx 011 with jubilee.

But I might buy this watch in future.

Good morning everybody! Sharing with you guys my new hoot that arrived yesterday. It's a 1970s vintage favre leuba that I won with 50 usd on ebay. Plenty of reburished dials out there but I managed to get this with original dial- with original hands and movement too. Intending to change the strap to blue but just making do with the black now cos it's too loose for me.

Try to change the day by rotating from 8 to 12. ie. Put the watch in time setting mode and go forward past midnight, reverse back to 8:00pm and repeat.

Actually scratches on acrylic can be polished off right? There's this poly something if I'm not wrong. Anyone knows where to get it? Approx price?

Nice looking watch!.. Was looking at watches with similar casing as well.. Like the Seiko 6309

allow me put what slow_mo just mentioned in simpler words.

Adjust your time to between 8pm to 12 midnight or 11pm to 3am (Depending on your watch).
The moment the minute hand crossed midnight, the day & date will slowly change. Keep adjusting your time until the change is complete.

Once the change is complete, rewind your time back to 8pm to 12 midnight or 11pm to 3am and repeat the whole process until you are at your desired day and date.

The initial set up is quite tedious but once you got the day correct, you just need to adjust the Date in the future...

Months you will need to adjust the date:
- Feb crossing to March (28 to 01)
-April crossing to May (30 to 01)
- June crossing to July (30 to 01)
- Sept crossing to October (30 to 01)
- Nov crossing to December (30 to 01)

For analog watches which comes with Day/Date (Be it Quartz or Auto), the crown will have either three layers/"clicks" or two layers/clicks.

When you pull the crown all the way out, it will stop the watch completely and you can adjust the time.

Push it back in slightly into the 2nd click, you can adjust the date or day.

The last click will allow you to adjust the Day or date.

If its only two "clicks". at the 2nd click, turning the crown clockwise will change the day. And turning the crown anti-clockwise will change the date.

Some watches are easy to feel or hear the click but some watches are really difficult.
A perfect example is the youtube video to setup Frederique Constant Worldtimer. You could BARELY hear the "click" when the guy pull out the crown, unless you up the volume.

So VW, if turning the crown clockwise, changes the date, try to turn it anti clockwise and see if it changes the day.
