No offence to tag owners... But WHY :s22:

My 1st target watch was the James Bond watch worn by Pierce Brosnan(yes, me uncle :vijayadmin:) but I no money so settled for a quartz version.
My first luxury watch when I bought first year start work is the tag aqua quartz. A very regretful buy. The build and finish is totally not worth.

was reading this back in 2009 and realised that i settled for a Tag AR 300m instead.
was so gian to hoot the omega back then.
LUXURY TYME: THE ROLEX WATCH REFERENCE PAGE

guess different folks different stroke. the sub imo is the better design. the omega seamaster lacks in the design direction. shape of the bezel, lug design, rounded crown guard, oversized numerals for the bezel and rounded second hand makes the whole look soft and toy like. i much prefer the straight and clean lines of the sub even though its more mainstream and expensive

How much is a sinn 556 retailing for currently? I know there was a uob promotion last year.. And I missed it zzzzzzz

last i check is 1.3k sgd after 30 or 35% discount. just call hour glass they will entertain you straight over the phone.

Then few years later year 2005. Me and 2 more EdMWers meet up and purchase our first rolex. I got the gmt2 master and the other 2 bro the submariner. 4.5k for sub and my gmt2 is another 700 more. I can't do wo date.

Then another few years later. Me and a colleague accompanied a cleaner auntie from our coy to buy rolex. She wanna buy rolex for her son n daughter in law for their wedding gift at peninsular hour glass. We were kpoing and browsing around and saw the 2254.50. Wow I was attracted to the watch asked my friend come over and he was hooked too... Later we went to other dealer and check for better price. My friend got the quartz version. I got the auto chrono one. My friend still can't pass another $500 for automatic movement. Me and shop assistant pursue him but this his first luxury watch. Understandable.

Just like my first luxury watch purchase.. Didn't research properly thus regretted badly.

Down the road I know I will get the submariner date until the Deepsea came. My target changed to Deepsea. As I slowly reaching uncle stage I more and more attracted to gold thus my target change to black 2 tones sub. Another reason is from documentary "American guns". Lol

Asked the grey dealer bring blue along too.. Inside the hotel lobby the warm lighting.. The blue sub sing to me and got hooked immediately. Never touch the black one at all. The black looks so dull.. Lol

2254.50 and the sub blue 2 tones the only 2 watches I got that first loves attraction.

Guys do share yr history in watch buying.. Bring back the memories..

Different ppl different taste.. I loves both the 2254.50 look and submariner look. In fact 2254.50 is a more handsome watch IMHO. In fact 2254.50 got a big following too..

I later find out I got another colleague in another department also got the same 2254.50.

I loves the domed glass. Wave dial and the sword hands. And the big and bright lumi.

My first luxury watch...

I never really spend alot of money on watches for my own even though i always adore good luxury watches. It was only recently as my income started to grow then I started to look at luxury watches once again

Regular involvement in this Watch Thread increased my knowledge in watches and also introduced me to Grey Dealers and Pre-Owned watch dealers.

Recent meet ups with a few watch lovers here further increased my knowledge.

I started my Search...

I looked up other watch forums and websites to understand the Preown market better. From there I shortlisted a few watches worth owning.
- Rolex Sub 16800
- Rolex Precision 6694
- Heuer Monaco

I did extensive research on these few watches, asked plenty of questions and even discussed with my wife.

But I would never expect a twist of fate on 22/06/2014. That fateful day my wife and I decided to drop by Far east Plaza...

We visited watch shops there like Monster and Lu-Ann first but we didnt find any we love.

Then we decided to drop by HJ, which was round the corner.

The shop was bright and crowded. We stood at the shop front and looked at the colourful FMs, Daytonas on display. A bold headed guy greeted us With a big warm smile (Later I knew he is russell the owner)

An uncle served us and advised us to take our time choose carefully. So I asked to try a few vintage subs and precisions. They were returned back as my wife felt they are "too old" for me

then we went on to try TH Carrera, Calibre, BALL, mont Blanc, Omega Seamaster.

My wife rejected them one by one. My confidence to get my first luxury watch was getting smaller, and smaller and smaller...

For the fun of it, I asked to try on the ALS, PP, Franck Muller, PAM and Corum as well since my wife was rejecting watches freely... lolx

My wife Actually commented the ALS looked good on me!!! But commented: "20years later..." after she saw the price...

the uncle jokingly commented: "Don't worry. Your wife just gave you a future permission to buy this watch in 20years time..." everyone laughed.

By now my hope was really really small.

then... my wife suddenly asked the uncle to take out a tudor diamond watch and asked me to try on...

I was not particularly drawn to it at first. I felt it looked "normal"... but nevertheless I put it on.

Surprisingly, The length of the bracelet was a prefect fit once I locked the clasp. Once I turn my wrist around to look at the face, it was fatal attraction.

I loved it. I don't know why but I just love it. My wife saw the expression on my face and smiled. She knew it.

Chop chop curry pok. Inspected the watch and made the payment.

My first Luxury Watch: Tudor Classic Daydate with 10point diamond markers.
Day at 12 o'clock. Date at 3 o'clock.

Good luck brudda. I've been searching for the past 6 months but couldn't find a preowned piece in a satisfactory condition. You're gonna need more luck for a nos.

Going to need it. Pretty sure one will come along sometime soon.

Managed to find a piece but it's in the states.

Wonder if I'll find it at a watch shop in New York :s22:

But settled for the aquaracer to save some money as I am entering army. Haha still want the 2254 very much till today.

the eta version or miyota version? its very nice

great question - you know your helson

i was fortunate to stumble upon the ETA version and learnt about the options only after I had paid. TBH it was an impulse purchase purely because skull and crossbones + diver goes really well together :D

it also appears on the serialized caseback, and the crown of all places - in microdetail !

Friends, what is the most entry-level spring drive watch? and what's the approximate price? Is it a GS-only movement?
