Frankly speaking try to get 1 if u manage to find the used price is going higher and higher every year. I still thinking should I sell it. But seriously I think will keep it and wear it more

the green strap from 20straps. not bad. soft calf pebble leather. $60 bucks, not too shabby! quite thick too the leather.

bought my 1st luxury watch the omega SMP due to a job change that needs to interface with customers...
sad to say quite a bit of my purchases are impulse buys, but I have never flipped any watch except for a sinn arktis
Had 3 seiko monsters + 1 samurai given away to my cousins who are out of army and going into work phase, during my dive watch phase.
Only time i managed to stop buying watches is when I was saving up for my 1st car 2003-5
Now majority of my watches are still diver centric, of course there are personal grails to target, but i cant avoid getting the occasional distractions along the way
Next stop, trying to get a AP RO, and the PP Natutilus to complete the collection and STOP buying, but thats what we always proclaim right...

i was fortunate to stumble upon the ETA version and learnt about the options only after I had paid. TBH it was an impulse purchase purely because skull and crossbones + diver goes really well together

it also appears on the serialized caseback, and the crown of all places - in microdetail !

My first luxury watch...

I never really spend alot of money on watches for my own even though i always adore good luxury watches. It was only recently as my income started to grow then I started to look at luxury watches once again

Regular involvement in this Watch Thread increased my knowledge in watches and also introduced me to Grey Dealers and Pre-Owned watch dealers.

Recent meet ups with a few watch lovers here further increased my knowledge.

I started my Search...

I looked up other watch forums and websites to understand the Preown market better. From there I shortlisted a few watches worth owning.
- Rolex Sub 16800
- Rolex Precision 6694
- Heuer Monaco

I did extensive research on these few watches, asked plenty of questions and even discussed with my wife.

But I would never expect a twist of fate on 22/06/2014. That fateful day my wife and I decided to drop by Far east Plaza...

We visited watch shops there like Monster and Lu-Ann first but we didnt find any we love.

Then we decided to drop by HJ, which was round the corner.

The shop was bright and crowded. We stood at the shop front and looked at the colourful FMs, Daytonas on display. A bold headed guy greeted us With a big warm smile (Later I knew he is russell the owner)

An uncle served us and advised us to take our time choose carefully. So I asked to try a few vintage subs and precisions. They were returned back as my wife felt they are "too old" for me

then we went on to try TH Carrera, Calibre, BALL, mont Blanc, Omega Seamaster.

My wife rejected them one by one. My confidence to get my first luxury watch was getting smaller, and smaller and smaller...

For the fun of it, I asked to try on the ALS, PP, Franck Muller, PAM and Corum as well since my wife was rejecting watches freely... lolx

My wife Actually commented the ALS looked good on me!!! But commented: "20years later..." after she saw the price...

the uncle jokingly commented: "Don't worry. Your wife just gave you a future permission to buy this watch in 20years time..." everyone laughed.

By now my hope was really really small.

then... my wife suddenly asked the uncle to take out a tudor diamond watch and asked me to try on...

I was not particularly drawn to it at first. I felt it looked "normal"... but nevertheless I put it on.

Surprisingly, The length of the bracelet was a prefect fit once I locked the clasp. Once I turn my wrist around to look at the face, it was fatal attraction.

I loved it. I don't know why but I just love it. My wife saw the expression on my face and smiled. She knew it.

Chop chop curry pok. Inspected the watch and made the payment.

My first Luxury Watch: Tudor Classic Daydate with 10point diamond markers.
Day at 12 o'clock. Date at 3 o'clock.

Henabi Bro, your description of the watch buying exp is one of the reason why I stalk this thread. I am not good in expressing myself in words. Hence I don't want to talk much.

Can really feel that you enjoy and like your watch. It's a wonderful feeling eh..

my wife has this really hot cousin whom she looks up a lot to. smart, gorgeous, and joined SQ right after A levels (that time SQ girls were super hot). Then went on to be an auditor or something but now an SAHM. If you ask me, she's still really hot.

This cousin wore an omega constellation (was it cindy crawford as the ad girl?) during her flying days, so naturally it was the grail watch of my wife ever since she was in sec sch. my first paycheck went to my parents, of course, but my first salary as a confirmed staff was to buy the missus (already ROM then) her long-awaited omega. I knew nuts about watches so just went to tampines century square with my cousin, looked for a shop that has omega, and decided on one (regret not getting the one with diamonds). Half gold with MOP dial. Quartz.

that evening after dinner I gave her the watch. she was shocked because it was a huge sum for us but she was so touched she hugged me and cried non-stop. It was like a dream fulfilled for her

(needless to say, it was an sexpensive present )

then when her mum heard about it (the watch, not the sex), she viewed the watch and said something I will never forget - "why no diamonds? should have bought one with diamonds!"
I was quite pissed - who wouldn't? But I turned it around and made it my driving force......and the rest is history.

so that was my first ever luxury watch purchase. not for myself, but for my wife whom been through thick and thin with me

for my own watch....was looking at montblanc.....then suddenly saw the maurice lacroix skeleton in the display cabinet next to montblanc, at cortina millenia walk. have always liked skeleton watches so it was THE watch for me. bargained with the new sales staff back then whom, like myself, was also a newbie at work. Bargained till the shop closed and he relented. he would be my usual cortina sales guy from then on.....and now he's a manager.....

that watch was purchased with my first bonus in dec 2004.

also had my eyes on the corum bubble skeleton (which i later bought and sold), and the chronoswiss opus (which i had a few chances to buy but..... not so keen anymore). then started to like azimuth. then rolex. then come here kena jialat jialat thanks to you guys (sarcasm*). LOL

on a sidenote......really enjoying this thread. really learnt a lot from here. thanks guys (not sarcasm*).
