Dear all Seiko experts, wanna ask if the sportura perpetual kinetic is a good buy?

I saw a model, SNP055P1, which I quite fancy, but it's about $900+ after discount.

Specs is as such:
Kinetic Perpetual from the Sportura collection
Powered by the movement of your body
Perpetual calendar correct to year 2100
24 hour hand
Month hand
Leap year indicator
Power save function
Time relay system presesrves accurate time up to 4 years
Stainless steel case and bracelet
100m water resistance
Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating

Sportura SNP055P1 watches for Men from Seiko | Seiko

Is it worth it??

most important is how much you like it when it's on your wrist. pictures don't tell much, really.
if it speaks to you when it's on your wrist then it's a must buy :)

found some others on creationwatch.com (reliable company with local office - quite a few of us have ordered from them before)

snp

godspeed! :)

ok here we go again......

two schools of thought:

1) let it stop. prevent wear and tear.
2) let it go (ok i can hear my kids singing frozen songs now). let the lubricants move to prevent them from coagulating.

for me, i let them stop.
HOWEVER, the watches in my winder are mainly those with screw-down crowns (rolex, patek), or those with complications like my wife's triple calendar. would be a huge PIA to set it all over.

the screw-down crowns are difficult to set and I fear the damaging of the threads. my wife also complains how they damage her manicure. I am now considering taking out the Pam305 and replace it with the skx007 (a real PIA to unscrew the crown).

hope that helps

btw, have learnt that:
Rolex - bidirectional
Patek - anti-clockwise

i find seiko watches painful to wind and set the dates and my moonphase is always on the winder because its also difficult to wind.

I went last week to the Pendulum at Siam Paragon, they didn't have Nomos :( I so badly want the Ahoi Atlantik Datum.

Why didn't you go to the chidlom branch? I did mention that the chidlom branch has quite a comprehensive range

I did take note of that, but I was on the missus' shopping schedule, which took us literally everywhere but Chidlom! Was an amazing three days eating and buying stuff though, Bkk rocks hard! Some of the German sellers on Chrono24 have decent prices for Nomos, so I can always scratch that itch if I wanted to. Thanks for the tips.

can you elaborate how is seiko different from other watches in terms of winding and setting dates...or are you referring to just the hasssle of manually managing the complications in mechanical movements
