I was looking it from the front. Still abit long. Probably like you say, it's for those with thick woolen gloves. Nice retro feel.

Yeah the pushers are longer than usual compared to other chronographs that i had owned. But okay la, when on the wrist it doesn't dig into my wrist and really does lend a old fashioned retro look to the watch, even on my panda version.

Lack of rotor. Im guessing handwound.

yes handwound. its more intriguing when you find out the seagull st19 is a copy of the venus 175 swiss movement, used in notable swiss brands like Breitling, Minerva

LOL this is when and how it all began, the swiss selling out their designs to China.

But good for consumers as we are getting a manual wind swiss designed column wheel chronograph with chinese grade and at affordable prices.

With ETA restrictiing supply of its movements, I expect the ST19 should become a more common movement in time.

yeah its on a lot of vintages, meaning that its from that time.

i think it depends on the design, if vintage inspired design I like it. sometimes a mash up of long pushers, extra large crowns on and clean modern lines makes it a bit jarring. personal taste i guess.

i'm going to offer a slightly different opinion, taking the point of view of the layman who would know that these are rolexes, but won't have an idea what rolex wanted these watches to be.

the thing that makes these watches sporty is the bezel. and the explorers have the most cultured if not plain one here, making it better as a dress watch. the black and shiny bezel and the deep inset numbers are just screaming out for attention.

between the black or white explorer i find the black dial explorer more sporty looking. both the black dial explorer and gmt could be easily mistaken as a diver as most divers are black.

so to me the white explorer is the most versatile of them all if you wanted a dual purpose dress/sport watch. not because it looks dressy, but the other two lean heavily towards sporty.

Literally! I bought this Litespeed frame in the late 80's and it's on it's 3rd set of components.

I remember saving up a looooong time for it. I couldn't afford paying for it at one go, so what I did was, I talked the bike shop owner to buy it for me and hang it in his shop, and I would pay him weekly until it was paid up and he would let me take it home.

Of course, prior to that, I knew the bike shop owner quite well as I bought my chromoly frame (Kona) from him and hung out at his shop daily. We developed a friendship. Although many people hate him, and I can understand why (cos he's pretty mean most times towards people), he seemed to take on a liking towards me.

He didn't have to buy a $3k bicycle frame (from the AD) and hang it in his shop indefinitely for a young punk to hopefully pay it off, without interest.

Ironically, it took me another year to be able to ride the bike cos I had to save up for the components as well.

I have broken my ribs riding it down a massive hill (my handlebar, wheels, fork, seat post were all broken in that fall), rode it from Thailand back to Singapore, it was my mode of transport for 2 years of my life and I rode it everywhere in Singapore.

I seldom ride nowadays. My butt isn't as hardy as it used to be. But whenever I look at it, it makes me smile.
