real progress and innovation there - especially lower cost of production, ease of assembly and increased reliability - all coming from having less moving parts. accuracy-wise not sure yet but i guess casio and iphone beats rolex so nothing to say here.

my guess is that swiss will go high fashion and art to maintain prices....so all swiss watch prices will go up even more!

Yup I think that's the key thing....accuracy and durability remains to be seen. I doubt it will be impressive, because if it is, it's implying the other watch makers who put in like 150 to 200 parts are putting in more parts for nothing.....which I doubt so.

I like the citizen one! The other two don't really appeal much to me. So I guess watches similar in style to the citizen one would appeal to my liking. I prefer minimalistic designs and leather straps instead of the metal ones. Where did you get the citizen watch and for how much?

In case u are not aware, that Citizen is a quartz that goes tick tick tick as compared to an automatic watch. Thought u might want to know.. Not sure if this may be a deal breaker for yer..

Full marks for the orange accents and PVD Case design though.

I remember seeing it on retail at about $200+.. shld not be hard to find at places that stock Citizens..

Leather on minimalist watch? Go to K2, get a watch, throw in a strap. Haha..

If Rolex can do it, so can you (with a $200 watch)!

Actually it doesn't make sense to have power reserve longer than 3 days.

If e watch has no difficult complication, setting time and date is a breeze.

If e watch has uber complications like the a.lange soehne grand complication watch, then I believe it's much better to own a premium watch winder to avoid setting everything every time we need to wear e watch.

this seagull watch could have been a decent watch since its on sale now, but somehow I read the reviews and decide not to get it

My SA previously mentioned it was about $540 when i bought the watch. not worth to get original strap. rather go custom.

Can you ask about the deployant clasp and post the cost here? I think they have 2 types.

it was a whopping $180 for the FC logo strap, be it sliver or rose gold. Decided not to purchase it as i find it overpriced and i prefer to have my watch lay out flat.

Btw, for those brothers heading over to FJ benjamin for your FC watch repairs -

Please tell the receptionist exactly what is wrong with the watch and ask them to pass to the technician directly. I was stupid to describe and show too much info (The screw was loose and the rotor was scratching the case back, the time as stopped as well because of the loose screw)

The receptionist kinda recklessly shaked my watch, and winded the crown, and gave me the look like do you know how to set your auto watch time nontheless, i got the watch fixed within the lunch hour.

*btw FJ benjamin houses other typical fashion watch like guess & nautical. I believe the most expensive watch brands they service is FC & bell&ross.

Anyone know nice watches within a budget of about $250-300? After reading through I found that most recommended orient, however the logo is a little ugly to me so I'm looking for alternative brands to look at! On a side note, does anyone know where I can get Larsson and Jennings watches?

haha ... maybe..but it won't be so soon. i think swatch using this as a chinese movement killer, timed with ETA supply cutoff. but i think china will develop their own asap...if so

nonetheless, longer power reserve is the innovation the mechanical watch industry needs. will encourage more people to own more mechanicals with convenience.

that an innovation? the manuf process is innovative

convenience and mech watches? with good auto wind, a pwr res of 38-42hrs is enough for most ppl. ppl nuts about convenience will be spending time adjusting the time as its slower or faster by 1 min.. 90hr pwr res does not solve this issue. if winding is inefficient it may not even hold 90hr of pwr res watch may still die after 38hrs.

ETA has not shipped to our fashion brands anyway. China movement killer no way. there are SW etc out there design to fill this gap. citizen is also in the market to fill this gap.

Swatch is just trying new production process, bring cost down.. hire few ppl to run the factory and be producing more mechanical. repurpose these ppl to ramp up supply for their own brands.

We'll it's not only fj Benjamin , when it comes to warranty repairs , most service centeres i been to doesn't resolved the problem as requested in fact create lots of other issues . I have been to richemont service centre for dial defect of my iwc n i need to make several trips to tackle the problem. Apparently they even left some dust particle in my watch n scratch the sapphire crystal from the inside after servicing. Have to leave my watch under their care for extra few months to replace the sapphire crystal . Came baack again with some minor smudges on the inside of the sapphire crystal which I think is due to the AR coating. I decided not to persue this because it's very minor issue n i m very sure they are not going to replace a new sapphire crystal for a minor smudge.


My suggestion is check very carefully yr watch after sending for surviving. Leaving dirt in watch and not resolving the main issues is apparaently very common. I recently sent my Omega to Swatch service centre for warranty issues n i hope i don't encounter the same nonsense

when it comes to warranty servicing i think most service centers r liddat cause they don't earn? Try buying something or requesting for a paid service or polishing , yr customer exp will be different
