i dont get how ppl willing to pay so much premium for a normal omega or a tag when they use the same movement as a normal swatch auto watch. no product innovation whatsoever.

Decorated vs un-decorated movement.

Then have to see what extent the decoration is done and whether it's mainly a manual operation or automated.

Don't forget swatches use plastic parts and are basically made as fast fashion. It's like comparing H&M and Louis Vuitton couture. See the reaction of your wife/gf if you buy a LV speedy vs the H&M lookalike you know why there's a price difference liao. :D

Not sure about Tag as i have only ever owned a quartz F1 and quartz aquaracer in the past. BUT have your bought any Omega watches in the past several years? Normal movement as a Swatch auto? I don't think so...If you have ever owned any Omega watches and Swatch mechanical watch you will know they do not share a common movement. No innovation? Omega is one of the more forward looking brands out there right now..they incoporated the co-axial escapement into their movements which resulted in the birth of the 2500A through to 2500D which watch makers will tell you is so different from the base ETA movement that it's almost entirely a different beast. This has gone further to evolve into all new 8500, 9300 series of movement with silicon hairspring and now the all anti magnetic master co-axial calibers (name sucks i know) that are resistant to 15.000 gauss.

You have to give credit where credit is due, Omega dared to take the plunge back in 1999 with the untried co-axial escapement and have not stopped introducing new technology into their watch movements since then at a decent pace.

Even though i hate the Omega marketing machine and their pricing strategy, I have to admire them for their guts and they do make a high quality product that is comparable with other brands in their price category. Furthermore, having owned Omegas since 1978, their co-axial movements are the most accurate watches that i own, all performing much better than COSC standards..mostly spot on or with variance of 1-3 seconds per week.

Objectivity folks....let's all be unbiased here.

Oh and personally, no luxury watch is ever worth the premium we pay for them..Is my Omega HV worth it's 10k retail? Nope..Is a Rolex Sub worth it's 11k retail?..again nope...Some things are just intangible and that's what we pay the premium for.

If i wanted a truly worth it watch, i won't buy any...in this day and age, who truly needs a watch to tell the time?

Do you need an expensive meal? They all come out as fertilizers anyway.
Do you need an expensive car? Just A to B anyway.
Do you need a big house? Just for shelter anyway.
Do you need expensive clothes? Just to cover up anyway.

But life would be so boring if one becomes so utilitarian. At least not me. Live life a little.

Anyway it's your money. You spend you happy. Other people's money they spend they happy also. And I am sure we are all happy for those who buy things that make them happy. Nobody ever has the right to dictate what others buy with their money. We can disagree but not put others down. We all have different taste anyway and that's what makes the world interesting.

Sorry to rant. Very stressed at work. Gonna be this way till the year ends. Sian.

Elshan: come I hold your hand baby :) don't tell your gf ok? LOL

Fwah the cellini looks good, but strangely, this series doesn't get any love ?

Are they in shops already?
But i still prefer the daydate .....it's like iconic. When you say gold watch, it's gotta be a gold rolex, no? Haha.....

If I didnt love my watch, I wouldn't wear it. If I didnt wear it, it wouldn't be so scratched up. You realize that the watches you love most are the most scratched up, because they've been with you through thick and through thin.

All my watches are scratch/ding magnets... My pam has the most dings and scratches even though it has seen the same amount of wrist time as my sub.

Hey guys, I know this thread is filled mostly with luxury watches, but I just got my wooden watch from Haystakt and just want to share it! It costs around $110 (early bird bonus to come) and I can't wait for it to arrive!

U effectively labelled everyone one else on this thread, other than yattokame, a(atm pin number?), CBS and yourself as immature with this post! :D
