Huh? I have shipped alligator to SG with papers and cert.

I believe that strapmaker was unable to provide the certification to allow export of the alligator strap.

I was quite surprised too when I bought 2 alligator straps from Panerai Florence and the SE proceeded to fill in export papers, which I have not encountered before.

Dear Strap God,

Have you had any experience with blackforest-atelier? The straps on their site looks really good and are very affordable. Really tempting!

Just home from an event at Diamond Walker. Nice shoes, great company, fabulous evening! (Thanks for all the whisky and food!)

nice catching up with some of the guys here..... it's been hardly 48hrs since we last met hahahaha.....

For something similar at Berluti you pay almost thrice the price!

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting my first watch.. I went to take a look at the Seiko presage and Tissot Visodate. Just wondering what brands/watches I should be looking at if I have a budget of (a) 1K and (b) 5k ?

Dear Strap God,

No experience with them but the straps do look interesting! I won't mind getting 1-2 of them to try.

In my opinion, I don't fancy a thick "sealant" that strapmakers use to seal the edges. It accentuates the thickness of the strap. I believe the use of such a sealant is due to the fact that exotic hides are actually very thin, so depending on the thickness of the strap that you want, the strapmaker may add filler leather and to "hide" the filler, a "sealant" is used on the edges. If it is being added on too thickly, then the strap cannot go through the buckle easily and it can look "messy".

If it is a leather strap, I would have the strapmaker wax burnish it or leave it raw.

Elephant hide with leather under layer (slight burnish):

Ostrich hide with leather (extra thin with sealant) - the sealant doesn't stand out but blends really nicely with the hide due to the thinness of the strap

I would still try this strapmaker out based on the funky colours that they have for the exotic skins!

However, what really interests me is the buckle selection. :) They seem to have really nice designs!

hows the quality of horotomo straps?

Sorry dude, not experience in them too. But their leather straps look like any other normal strap. Have to ask AuroraRain!
