they bringing sexy back. but the white second hand abit questionable, along with the pcl.

yeah it does stick out like a sore thumb especially against the faux vintage lume and looks like a chrono seconds hand from a speedmaster.

the polished centre link is suppose is to add more glam to justify the high price for a simple three hander.

i think they missed a trick here not offering the 300m with additional tool watch elements e.g. a nato and shark mesh as a complement to the pcl bracelet.

this was the omega diver in 1958 - the seamaster 300

if they'd just had some discipline to stick to this design instead of coming up with those modern versions they could have put up a good fight with rolex through the years and share the "reference diver look" today.

Personally I'm glad omega is adventurous in terms of their seamaster designs throughout the decades, if not I'll be missing some of their wacky designs in their 70s.

Swiss exporters face 'tsunami' after SNB unexpectedly drops cap

[ZURICH] Swiss exporters including Swatch Group AG and Richemont slumped in Zurich trading after the central bank's decision to scrap its cap on the currency saw the Swiss franc jump more than 14 per cent against the dollar and euro.


"Today's SNB action is a tsunami; for the export industry and for tourism, and finally for the entire country," Swatch Group AG Chief Executive Officer Nick Hayek said by e-mail. "Words fail me." Holcim, the world's biggest cement maker, slid as much as 21 per cent. Watchmakers Cie. Financiere Richemont SA and Swatch tumbled more than 9 per cent. The benchmark Swiss Market Index dropped as much as 8 per cent, the biggest intraday decline since October 2008.


A strong franc is a serious challenge for exporters like Swatch and small- and mid-size companies with factories in Switzerland, where shop-floor workers earn some of the highest wages in Europe. Timepieces make up more than a 10th of the country's total exports, led by brands including Rolex, Swatch's Omega and Richemont's Cartier.


The Swiss franc surged as the Swiss National Bank unexpectedly removed the cap of 1.20 francs per euro, concluding that it was no longer justified. That ended a three-year-old policy designed to shield the economy from the euro area's sovereign debt crisis

Bremont watch event

Many thanks to Sincere for the invite to the event!


Mr Giles English, co-founder of Bremont, addressing the crowd. An aviation aficionado, and I had a great chat with him.


This watch is a ltd ed (forgot how many for the gold and WG; 300 for steel). There is a small piece of the "fabric" from the original Wright Flyer from 1903. Iirc some of the proceeds go towards restoring the other flyers(there were 3). After disc about 20k.
They also did the same for a ship which was involved in the battle of trafalgar (some copper part) which they will do the same with it.
quite a few buyers. Oh and the food was good.




That brown patch between the words "wright" and "flyer" is some fabric from the original wright flyer. Neil armstrong had a patch too, brought along onto the Moon.

did you hoot the tropik ss? all the models are very nice. thought about hooting the black bezel/black dial, by the time i wanted to its already all gone. i think the tropik is nicer than the delfin. halios atm is micro brand done right. though i think the price can still go a little lower. but halios has been holding value very well. might i say elshan's stuff still abit raw in terms of design, halios is what he can strive for as a micro brand.

Finally Made A Trip Down to See Some Watches

So I finally had a day where I could work outside of the office, so after "work" headed out to check out some watches.

The bros here were right in that most ADs are keen to serve and give some good advice, especially to those new and unwary of laying down big money.

So first up, I took a look at the Breitlings (they were recommended for that tough bold look)

The 44mm Avenger, which wore too thick on my wrist



Then the 42mm Colt, which was better, though the heft and the buckle...



Finally one I was okay with, the Tag Heuer 1887 Calibre. Considering the price, movement and all other "head factors", both the SA and I thought okay, only thing is the heart.



Then one I really liked, the Black Bay heritage. Both colours worked for me, the Red with a stronger sense of fun and weekend feel, blue a bit more sober for weekday wear!



Then there was the Pelagos, even more serious-business cool. The Tudors are high on my list.

Backside itchy try the Panerai. 44mm in this style strangely okay on my wrist, but the SA talked me out of this as the first one. 1. Price 2. Choose some more orthodox stuff for the start.



Went to another branch and saw this:



To my eyes better than the Heuer. See what I meant about heart winning out head. The Heuer is priced sharper and has a nicer movement, but IWC looked nicer. The SA there laughed at my predicament.

This was super curveball.



Then another branch to see the Omega (OOS for the variant that interested me), but saw the Sinn. Decent value and looked fine, can KIV.



Also a Chopard there, which appealed to my inner car nut, but that gotta wait.

Anyway, was at the Motorshow for work purposes, and saw Glenn Tan walking around. Would give some WIS prizes for anyone who guessed correctly the watch he was wearing. Hint: Its a popular dual purpose watch of the rich.
