well....... may I put this up for discussion?
All mature people here so let's keep it amicable. Else don't blame me for what I'll do to your hotdog. :s13:

I guess a number of you know my wife and I have intention to leave a Patek to each of our children (twins; one boy one girl).

The 5712 will be one (bought about 42k brand new) and we are looking to get another one.
Tried a few, and took pictures of these two just this afternoon.

several considerations:
- similar price. we try to be as fair as possible. as close to 42k as possible.
- patek with complications.

these two annual calendars below are very close to 50k. so pricing is similar.
We could get the nautilus 5726; so both twins get a nautilus, but with different complications.
Same same but different; just like twins :D

Or just get a totally different design. The nautilus is somewhat sporty so we probably could get a dressy one. And in white gold some more, for not much diff in price.

5726

5146

(AND NO I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY BOTH SO DON'T POST THE IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR BOTH MEME HOR .............LOL)

The 5726 gets my vote. I'm biased towards the nautilus. The 5146 didn't appeal to me.

Prefer the 5726 - absolute classic beauty
And of course, it'll be years before you hand them to your kids - so you get to enjoy 2 versions of Nautilus

Definitely the 5726!

At least your twins would have watches that are similar to one another in case design. So.. no worries about Child A wanting the 5726 and at the same time Child B wanting it as well. :s13:

Citizen chronomaster too.... heh

Talking about Quartz... the Grand Seiko Quartz is a time keeping marvel with +- 5 sec a year!

Pebble is a great toy to play with. It's more of a notification reminder for me. I also used it as a selfie/wefie remote for my iPhone/N5. :)

yeah both watches at +/-5sec a year are truly amazing. the clock in your PC or laptop won't be able to beat that. neither the best mechanical.

That perpetual calendar quartz seiko diver video can be 20s/year or 1-and-two-thirds sec a month which is also a friggin value buy even if you use it to time the accuracy of your mechanicals.

edit: looks like the quoting system screwed up on this post...

i think another consideration is the future value of the watches. if you choose two different designs, despite the same price today, at the mercy of future fashion and trends, the difference in their future values may diverge significantly over time.

moreover, having the same/matching design simply says "twins".

the reality of course is that you don't get double satisfaction from owning two of the same watches today:)

A bit wols to the discussion, but I would agree with the forumers to match the watches, and take the other Nautilus.

@yattokame A bit OT here also, but remember Bananaman's Osamu Shitara, and how I said he was quite a watch lover? After some observing, turns out he's Patek all day, every day. A Calatava, a Aquanaut, and the most commonly worn one, a Nautilus 5711.

The AKB founder also another one. Saw him on some variety show spotting a Vacheron.

Yatto on your Pateks a thought crossed my mind. Perhaps not every guy/gal will enjoy or want to wear a Patek on their wrist. It could be for several reasons. Could be they have no interest in watches, find themselves in vocations where swinging a Patek may not be appropriate/ comfortable etc. Your children are still very young. If its for them to keep in safe then disregard the above.

How about you wait till later to make this decision. Perhaps in their teens.

You asked for honest comments so honest you got. :D
