these 2 brands are probably considered affordable to middle class to upper class to have.
1 watch for them can already

even my secondary school friend bought the 510. told him to get 312 don't want haha

patek nowhere to be found. haha too up there.

Lol! Ok lah happy can liao. I got another friend bought a 312 and he told me he buy cause its big heavy and affordable.

End of day happy can liao. I ever saw a taxi driver with a aquanaut. Real or not, i dont care. He happy can liao :)

A question as well for discussion

Would u want to have 3 different watches

Or 1 patek?

Asssuming 30k equal in value for the 3 watches or just 1 patek :)

This is just an assumption for the value

Seeing I dont have a Patek and instead wife n I have a small collection of several pieces I guess my answer is written by my actions. Heh. Honestly given my income standing I wont feel comfortable wearing a Patek to work as it will invite unwanted gossip from colleagues who know I am into watches.

Frankly I go for looks, quality and strength of manufacture aspect of the brand. For now I don't feel the draw to a Patek that strongly as less expensive watches do perfectly fine, though Yato's nautilus constantly beckons haha

Hmm.. that's an interesting question.

Definitely a Patek. Of course.. it will have to be the understated Calatrava for me. :o

And.. a picture of the caseback..

I guess for me I used somewhere around that figure in the past year to purchase multiple pieces instead of a single patek.

Actually I don't really fancy Patek, I find them more on the office wear kind of watch and not so rugged.

I would go for a AP.

Interestingly, AP never sings to me no matter how I tried to understand and even trying the roo didn't do it for me as well

I was just having this discussion with my gin gang.

First, i have to quantify - I am a poor man! So it wouldn't be so much of value but what I really like (a personality trait)

3 different watches can bring diversity for different occasions. But if i was going to wear one watch for the rest of my life for every occasion, i think dropping 30K on it would not be so bad either.

Servicing costs would be another factor. if you had 3 very good / complicated watches - it may cost as much if not more than a base model Patek for example.

so it really depends. But I would go for a Patek.

Whilst I agree with bro rachdanon (my beef, would be taking a train whilst wearing a Patek)...maybe a lot of our colleagues / friends would not really know what a Patek or Vacheron is even if they saw one. Just food for thought. The designs are simple and not ostentatious. Especially dress watches like Calatrava which are meant to be subtle and hidden under your suit :)

Happen to be around NUS and went to have my then (more than a decade ago) favorite prata in Engineering canteen. The shop is still there since the 90s ! Had a nice chat with the owner whom I last saw that many years ago. Lots of memories and enjoyed relating them to wife...

Think its my 1sr frontol full body shot on this thread. Sorry I have a hamster face. :D

Will get one Pam Fiddy (about 23k) and the rest on Pam straps.

Don't like Pateks/APs and 30k is not enough for an ALS 1815... so left with my first love, Panerai. :)

Been a while, hello everyone!
