hi all the shifu, i am newbie to this,
i am looking for a watch.
-budget btw 10-15k
-bracelet cos i sweat alot
-wanting to leave the watch to my kids in future, also if budget allows, will want to upgrade the watch in future

was reading and walking around some of the shops to find out more.
not sure if anyone can advice,
i was considering daytona and iwc.
daytona bcos of the lower depreciation, and iwc jus bcos simply i like the brand and design.

i understand i have this conflict of ideas of i want something that i want the value to be retain sometime down the road yet i do not want something that is jus like everyone else,i.e a rolex

1) when buying a watch, whether its in house or non in house movement is it really important in relation to watch value
2) was recommended zennith, EL PRIMERO series, (nice movement)
i read somewhere saying the vps36000 like more sensitive and the repair cost was very high.
3) if other than daytona, what other choices could i be considering?

thanks in advance

First off Daytona today cost over 16k, no in your 10-15k budget.
Iwc is a brand with many watch under collection not Daytona.

1. Watch in your budget will not hold value as well as appreciation of new watches. Planning to upgrade I felt you thinking of selling and top up little to get something.
Watch movement is not deciding factor of value, in many cases watches went on auction and yield high value have in house movement but they are nothing cheap and super low numbers in production, meaning maybe 5-20 around. With exception of vintage watches back in world war.
Or get something ulu brand to the mass! Roger smith so far maybe made 50 watches, the anniversary watch he is selling ~usd$150k, waiting time on each watch like few years. Note Rolex make a cool ONE MILLION watch a year. Supply and demand
Dornblueth & Sohn will not fetch high resale value here more so in international market. Makes ~120 watch a year, highend ones close to 15k.

2- EP cost to service is high but it's not easily damage, a proven movement used for years. It's a reliable high beat with no hacking feature

3 - do u only want a chrono?

There are JLC, and lots more. Sweat today tech ppl have made leather suit for diving and be 100-300 meters water resistance! Is your sweat more corrosive than ocean waters?

Both the pelagos and zenith pilot are iconic in their own categories, with many followers.

If you love divers watch... then go for pelagos, won't regret..

if you are looking to own your first luxury pilot then go for Zenith.

So the same question goes back to you bro...

which watch do you personally think is more worthy? And you won't regret.

A VC!!!!!! very nice...

your bracelet also swee

Just change to Saxon Verreno for my 359, bought online at about $50, quite good quality

Dive watch over pilot watch anytime, unless is slide rule bezel =:p

so i will go for the pelagos, maybe you can consider the new one with in house movement.
