Thanks for the suggestion so there's no decent watch one can get for a lady with that budget? Or I should be looking at those simple CK or MK watches? Or just get a Mont Blanc ladies pen instead of a watch

Was lazing at starbucks this afternoon and met a fellow paneristi. Guy just walked up to me and said nice watch. Thats it, conversation went on for 15 mins as we talked. He is an indonesian chinese on business trip and was on a pretty rare pam 418. Talked about how he acquired it and various aftermarket straps. Bidded farewell and it felt good. Reminded me again that in every single timepiece, holds fascinating stories waiting to be told.

I'm looking to buy the PAM 312 or PAM 510, BNIB at S$8,000 this weekend.

Is it worth it?
Paying the price of an Rolex Explorer2 42mm on a PAM?

Also, are the prices quoted for the PAMs above by my SA good to go?
Can someone please recommend a cheaper dealer?

but I won't group Rolex together with Tag Heuer n Omega. No way...

ROLEX watches are able to retain value and even increase value for some vintage watches is not just because of their brand only but also because they produce their own movts since Day One and the high level of customer service all ROLEX AD must provide, plus they also make it easy for clients to authenticate rolex watches at nearest RSC.

To me..Rolex is considered the first step into luxury watches which use 100% own movts.

PP and ALS are top end luxury watches. Till date, not many watch makers can match the QC level of ALS.

according to iceflight dai dai kor... ALS will assemble a watch movt, take it apart and then put it back together again before the watch is packed, sealed and delivered...

i think that list challenges the fact that price premium is due to in house movements and the concept of luxury.

but i agree - its about personal preference, so whatever "floats your boat".

I think I was wrong in my own understanding... seems like Rolex started making their own movts many years later after the founders trademarked "Rolex"

Is omega's latest movement master co-axial 8400 series considered in house or outsource? It's made by eta but because it's the same company. But r&d by omega wor. What do u think?

It is a handwind movement meaning I don't think it is automatic. So you need to wind it daily. If you are ok with it then it is alright and like what the other guy said, DLC coating when it starts to get scratch can get really unsightly.

i think it is still a modified ETA, with Omega using the coaxial escapement originally developed by George Daniels and replacing the old spring balance system with new Anti-Magnetic Technology (as what OMEGA calls it), which uses non-magnetic parts like silicon spring to greatly improve the anti-magnetic factor to more than 15,000 gauss

I won't call it in-house yet, unless Omega produce everything by themselves.
