Sorry I didn't make myself clear or I used the wrong terminology.
But what I meant by re-issue is that e Heuer racing watches was made famous by Heuer and not TAG. TAG is just re-issuing them now to hop on the original Heuer brand.
As for Omega, Im not knowledgable on the movement part. You may be right that the calibre now is not the movement calibre that went on the moon. But you can't deny that the moonwatch is wholly designed by Omega.
TAG was just lucky they bought over Heuer brand.
Ditto Omega.
And like Heuer, Omega was lucky that they were assimilated during the quartz crisis into SIHH first, and continuing along an arduos journey that culminated in being owned by the Swatch Group, and saved initially by Swatch's ETA group.
So at the heart of it, Omega is the same as Heuer. A company whose owners and watchmaking machinery has been replaced by that of a larger group with financial muscle. This is where brands like Rolex, PP and AP shine .... a continuity of watchmaking tradition unbroken through time.
But I see your point about the Tag's role with Heuer. Being a marketing man myself i see it as a branding problem, and agree that should have left "Heuer" as it is from day one. Like how SIHH and Swatch didn't add their branding to Speedmasters (God forbid!).
