Agree with you, but at the same time, for a first purchase, doing it from an AD feels... more special and satisfying I guess. Yeah international warranty is pretty important for me as I'll likely be moving to the US next year. Thanks again!To be frank, after purchasing from a AD in the past, I feel that the price premium for an AD purchase could be better spent on accessories like straps and the like.
Well, for warranty purpose I reckon that it shouldn't be an issue? If I am not wrong (Do correct me if I am), IWC's warranty is under Richemont and it is a 2 year international one.
With that said, I do not have any experience with IWC, so, I think it's better for IWC owners to chime in yea?

I think for safety, I'll still need to check whether the AD stamped is actually an AD right? Just in case it's some bogus dealer - think this might be easy/difficult depending on whether I can find that AD's site.

About 5 years ago, the MontBlanc DLC Sport Chrono caught my eye and I fell in love with it. I did not have the $$ to purchase it then. As my knowledge on watches grew, I became more hesitant to purchase it as I did not want to overpay for a watch with standard 7750 mvt. Still loved the look thou. I was disappointed to learn that the watch was discontinued last year, but I still do frequent searches online for it.
I was able to find one on eBay during August last year and I started bidding for it, I won the auction but just nice was in Korea for meeting. I tried to pay via Paypal but the bank found the transaction suspicious and reversed it. Just like that I made a loss of few hundred dollars due to currency conversion. After that I lost interest in the watch.
Last week, I was getting my moonwatch modded at LuAnn. While browsing through her shop I came across this watch and knew I had to get it. I traded a watch which I seldom wear and top up some cash for it. Apologies for babbling so much, but I'm happy that I got the first Swiss watch that caught my eye. The oem strap was too short, hence I got a Kain Heritage Croc strap for it.

The DSOTM looks awesome, maybe that'll be my next targetSpeedmaster Prof is common because I would think it is one of the lowest lying fruits in terms of monetary impact for a "classic collectible"
how about a DSOTM/GSTOM? These are definitely rarer than your run of the mill speedys.
I have a friend who wants to start with an IWC too - I am more of a Zenith man since thats my next target!
The "dated" warranty isn't really a concern if it's just that duration - interesting note on Richemont though (I have a Cartier bag that I serviced with them a few years ago and I believe they expected even the receipt).

I mean, I don't expect Rolex Daytona/Zenith El Primero standards, let alone the horology holy trinity, but surely it can't be that bad? Like say, a lot of Tag Heuers.
