Introducing my seagull tianjin 19 zuan... A replica of the first China pilot chronograph watch. Love the look of it and it matches well with nato strap.

"The movement that you won't see is, as always, the "Calibre 5," which is the ETA 2824-2." - quoted from ablogtowatch. Link is below for all to see.

http://www.ablogtowatch.com/tag-heuer-aquaracer-300m-ceramic-bezel-2015-watch-collection/

Actually, everywhere that I've read about the Calibre 5 said that it was a modified form of the ETA 2824-2.

Just want to point out that in the ABTW review published today/yesterday, the author said that the Calibre 5 is based on the Sellita SW200.

Edit: Should probably put the quote and link:

Screwing off the case back reveals what TAG calls its "Caliber 5" movement. In this case, a Sellita SW 200 (an ETA 2824 clone).

SINGAPORE: A man was fined S$4,500 for getting a tourist to claim a refund on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on a S$44,500 watch.

In May 2014, Zheng Da Fei, a Singapore Permanent Resident, approached a Chinese tourist at Changi Airport to help him claim a GST refund of S$2,911.21 for the luxury watch purchased by his wife, according to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).

Zheng knew that as a PR, he could not claim the GST refund, IRAS said. He was subsequently caught by Singapore Customs officers at the airport.

A person who engages another to falsely claim a refund under the tourist refund scheme can be fined up to S$5,000 or, in default of payment, jailed for up to six months, IRAS said.

"The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore takes a serious view of any one who makes false declarations to seek GST refunds under the tourist refund scheme and abuse the scheme. IRAS works closely with Singapore Customs to uncover any attempt to defraud GST," it said.

Chinese tourists now very wealthy one!

Omega SAs now have people permanently stationed at Constellation area just to tend to them. Where got test drive, just pick and go.

And that one time a China guy dressed in berms and polo, with some obiang sling pouch, look like Singapore peasant - ha, choosing between two Milles! The SA more careful with the watch than him.

Oh well, conflicting info from the same website. I was also informed by the sales rep that Tag Heuer switched from Selitta back to ETA. Who's to know for sure. Wonder if anyone can verify this?
Anyway, Selitta is still a swiss company, and the patents on the ETA2824 have expired, so anyone can make an exact copy without getting sued.

Doesn't make sense for Tag to switch from Sellita to ETA though. Almost everyone is switching from ETA to other alternatives since ETA movements to those outside of the Swatch group will only be more and more limited.

I won't worry about the Caliber 5 regardless of it being Sellita or ETA but I know that there will be some that do as they perceive ETA as being superior to Sellita.

I was told that when Chinese buyers look for Hi-Fi equipments, they won't buy which sound the best, but rather which looks the most impressive and expensive.

Meaning there are Chinese who pay 6 digits for a pair of speakers without listening to them :s22:

No 6 is actually a stupid question. If everything else is thrown away there is no way to tell that the item is new...

Interestingly, Ablogtowatch just released a review of this watch and said that the Caliber 5 is based on the Sellita SW200 rather than the ETA 2824.

Quite the norm since the Swiss court's ruling. Anyway I read they are almost identical.
