I've personally never been a big fan of skeletons but this one might just change my thinking

My first luxury watch. Maurice lacroix.

sure anot the date is being set like this?

no first crown position meh?

if so Nomos just failed.

Haha...not failed la. You just need to have the patience.

And you are surprised right...but we are used to the conventional 1st crown position. But there could be many many types of movements embedded behind all the variety of watch in this world.

All invented by human..:s13:

So this is what we call must appreciate/admire horology.

Buy it for yourself and then buy a different one for yr hubby lor...:D

Haha I am not into watches so can't bear to spend too much on myself. But speaking of this, I saw an Arbutus ladies watch that I thought looked nice but is Arbutus a lousy brand? I think it's cheap compared to all the watches you guys seem to be into but does that make it bad?

this is nice.
seems like theres Mother of pearl dial at the perimeter and some diamonds. the skeleton works is also quite 3D, not like those ugly 2D with some carvings.

If you like it, get it. Cheap doesn't mean bad. You need to like it before you buy it.

Same here! IMHO a lot of the so called skeleton watches just arent "skeletonized" enough. Then there are the cheap china made ones which look really bad.

Here is one of my personal favorites. If u can stretch your budget to 4k.

http://www.monster-time.com/product.aspx?id=3014&scid=1

My husband is very picky though, he wants to see but he doesn't want too much also. I nearly vomited blood shopping around with him the other day. He wants something where you can see the skeleton design clearly yet it should not overpower the reading of time...

Erm sorry I know for my budget I shouldn't be asking for so much haha, that's why looking around and hoping to find that 1 special design that can fit what he wants.

We're saving up now for our upcoming home so I'm not gonna spend so much at the moment. Maybe for a 5 or 10yr anniversary then we'll talk bigger numbers. :s13:

Yes that's mother of pearl. But is Arbutus a reputable watch brand? Because to be honest I only saw this name recently in some random watch shop.

Am a huge fan of skeleton watches. Has a maurice lacroix skeleton and corum bubble skeleton amongst others like swatch etc.

Chronoswiss opus is my holy grail 12yrs ago when i started on watches. Couldnt afford it back then.
then it stopped production and I missed out on several offers over the years.
Just snag this the moment I saw it. Cant help but wanna share my joy here. Has been sleeping with it the past few days. Looked back 12yrs ago and its kinda like a dream come true.

Next on my list is prob a La Tradition. Open worked, not really skeleton.

OMG! THE DAI KOR IS BACK! WHERE HAVE U BEEN??

no need to say sorry - and why are you even apologising? it's the nice thought you have for your husband that we respect. we are all sharing a passion here so we help willingly.

it will be difficult because skeleton watches are not known to be legible. just take your time and you shall find something that speaks to you and him. perhaps his taste will change over time as well.

Godspeed!

I think they have been around for a while, but it depends on how u define reputable I guess?
reputable ones are the usual Seiko, Orient, etc

see the actual watch in the flesh and decide if it's nice. actually a few yrs back sovil et titus had a skeleton watch which was quite nice also.
