my current philosophy now is to always lun, be patient and not to succumb to the BBB craziness (of course having my fav grail omega 2254.50 on wrist really helps ). never overspend. save sufficiently. research thoroughly. most importantly: know myself well, establish my priorities, be certain of my taste and motivation, always seek the best value/bargain and buy the best i can afford and be done with it, so i don't need to waste time & money building up a pile of watches i won't be wearing much. also, i wear my watch(es) to please myself, not to broadcast my status. i don't need a status symbol crutch to validate my self-worth. and eventually if it happens to be a rollie, it's because i know i will enjoy and appreciate it long enough to justify that expense. (actually a rollie on wrist means i would be poorer by $10k plus - and cash really is king).

see all the Omegas here, wa really tempting..
but yeah, for me, watch is the very least of my priorities haha

but the bulova accutron is more versatile. put it on leather strap , classic dressy watch. put it on steel ,nato straps it can be casual/sporty.

Thrift is good, cash is king! I'm sure you are more than able to get most watches like Rolex etc. Well, my take is that spending 10% of my pay on a watch is the most I will go.

I dun quite agree for lollies.. It is like wearing gold bar on wrist. Anytime I sell away any of my rolex I still gain some profit + I got to enjoy the watches for years

I think both also suit your wallet well ba... you ok with 40mm then take the old one lor.

The explorer advantage is you gain a GMT hand instead of a rotating bezel of your sub.

SD is definitely much smoother because technically the Bulova movement still beats (16 bps). IMO you can't see the beats from far, have to look real close.

Still a joy to look at the sweeping seconds though. My poor man's SD:
