Cartier was a jeweler and designer first, and watchmaker second –*so what you end up with are timepieces that look simply like nothing else out there.
Just like how Ralph Lauren is clothing first, watches 2nd.
Just like how Leebee is trunk makers and leather products maker first, watches 2nd
Just like how Mont Blanc is upmarket pen maker first, watches 2nd.

Just like what the article mentioned...
in order for people who are really into watches or avid horological lovers, to sit up and seriously consider Cartier, Mont Blanc as serious watch makers, they need to invest heavily, have separate watch-making divisions, create their own movements etc

Plus Since Mont Blanc, Cartier, JLC, ALS, VC are all under the richemont group, therefore it's easy to share watchmaking resources and knowledge around, especially from JLC and ALS.

The most significant was Ex JLC CEO Jerome Lambert joining Montblanc as CEO in July 2013. And almost immediately, the designs of Mont Blanc watches started to look more visually appealing and attracting young executives with high spending power...

Still... having said so much...

Cartier was jewelry maker first, still is and will always be... unless someone becomes CEO and changes everything

Roots don't change...

history has it that cartier created the first pilot watch:
https://monochrome-watches.com/history-of-the-pilot-watch-part-i-cartier-santos-1904/

Maybe it was between toasts of champagne that Alberto complained to his friend Louis Cartier about the difficulty of checking his pocket watch while flying. He needed to keep his hands on the plane’s controls, but instead kept having to fumble for the pocket watch. Louis Cartier listened and Eureka! – an idea was born, which was to become the Santos-Dumont wristwatch – the first pilot watch.

haha nice info!

after i read the article, cartier already have their movements long ago.

if i am not wrong, a watch maker is also known as jeweller. as far as i know.

somehow or rather it goes together. haha

Guys, Omega Speedmaster Pro better to get the sapphire or hesalite version?

Another question is it worth while to get a brand new one or preowned?

So many go and surf around and provided you links to good deals.
Where to see in person go to their website and use store locator to find who carry. A phone call to understand what's in stock to see and find out price.

FYI profit margin in your store can be great over 50% even after your discount

Your grey at KL, u can travel up to see before paying note price in usd

Thanks bro but KL abit far haha, don't really dare to drive up there.

Anyway I think I most likely settling for Tag Carrera, but which model is considered good within my Budget? Any recommended specific website that sells authentic Tag? I would prefer steel brace as I owned quite a few lower end leather ones liao

Tag discount heavily controlled iirc discount is fix at 20%
Tag entry level carrera in steel WAR211A.BA0782 (39mm) retails at around sgd$3300.

The larger 41mm WAR201A.BA0723 is at sgd$3600

Both runs on the caibre 5 or a slightly modified sw200

Wah Zenith is out of my Budget for those design I preferred on the website. The maximum I can stretched now is $4000, I Guess I'll head down to All Watches boutique to view and see, don't really like buying online without looking at actual product.

For Tag Carrera which outlet you guys recommend? Is their flagship stores or The hour Glass, Vincent watches? My Friend ask me go All Watches at lucky plaza tho

PS: The next thing is about the Quartz, Automatic and Chrono. Are there any layman term to explain which is better? Any that doesn't require frequent calibration if not use for sometime? Because I don't really plan to use it as daily watch.
