I've seen a lot of red subs. I personally own 2 double red subs. Though my direction is now on the 6262. But yeah, call me a snob, but if you were a replica, make sure it looks gen at least. Don't throw face You'd be surprised, a lot of people in Singapore actually know about vintage Rolex, more than you think.

Can someone SIC a gen vintage 1680 ? I am assuming most of the bros in this thread not vintage expert.

I think the 1680 has open "6" and "9"

I can't believe people here are so noob to not see this one is fake as day!!! I think the fraken ceramic sub few pages back blows this out of the water, as least gen-likeness.

-date font is wrong. should be an open '6'
-date magnification too small
-date magnification too uniform, no distortion (older models had bad cyclops)
-bezel teeth too deep, almost touching aluminium insert
-plexi crystal too uniform, lack of distortion around the periphery
-crown guards are too blunt

Plus, one of the biggest tells is that the hands are not rusty for a circa 1970's model in our humid weather?

for vintage watches, its very difficult for normal watch lovers and young watch lovers like me to be able to tell the difference instantly, unless, I own a vintage Submariner, which for my case, I don't.

Secondly, many vintage submariner watches out in the market have replacement parts from 3rd party. Dial, minute hand, hour hand, bezel etc.
This is due to corrosion over time.

Unless the owner opens up the case back and let us see the movement, if its a replica it will be an instant giveaway.

Therefore the ONLY way to justify is to make a trip to RSC. Its pretty difficult to tell a vintage submariner whether its real or genuine just solely with naked eye...

For some clowns here who are about to bash me on the "hand stack", the old gen handstack was like this for the 1675. I was only in Nov 1982 that Rolex SA came with the independent GMT quick set feature..

if you're one of those kids... please please please know that the rustier it is, the more orange the patina is, the more 'furry' the dial is... it's more beautiful! The only part which you're kinda allowed to replace is the hairspring!

bro bro bro.... fake as day! LOL! your piece is pathetic compared to the SubC date one posted a few pages back.

-your numbers engraving on the bezel are too thin and shallow, and too white. the gen is platinum plated. suposed to look peach silverish.
-your ceramic insert is not sitting flushed AT ALL.
-rehaut engraving is suspect and not shinny and satin like the gen
-LOL, this is a funny one. Your Rolex crown logo below the 12 o' clock marker is SMILING It's supposed to be an oval "O" but yours is a "D"
-your crown is sitting out too much. The crown guards normally cut around 55.5673% into the crown's length. Maybe, it's the camera angle.

But all in all, a nice piece. Only Rolex nuts like me will call you out.

All reps comes from the same few factories in China. There is no swiss made, best rep, AA rep AAA rep AAAA++***** rep. The only difference is where you got it and how much. That 1.2k rollie posted a few pages back can be bought for less than $300 in Shenzhen.
