。。。Using this watch now, I notice I lose about 3s/day. Do people here adjust their watches every now and then be it being faster or slower?

Don't really like it losing time.

DAY 8

Beautifully accurate

Time to do a review after writing this watch for 8 days, including today.

Orient fem75002dr (US version) Blue, aka Orient Mako XL or Mako II

Movement and accuracy
The first thing which grabbed my attention is the time accuracy. Using the famous Orient Caliber 46943. Its almost unnoticeable, if I remember correctly, about +/- 2 sec a day. This is well within the COSC requirement and this is not even a COSC-certified watch.

The Orient Caliber 46943 is self-winding and also you to wind it manually. It has a 40-hour power reserve. 21 jewels and 21,600 beats per hour. The rotor is bi-directional.

Metal Bracelet
My Orient Mako XL comes with the metal SS bracelet, although there is a rubber strap version. The bracelet is an Oyster style bracelet with hollow end links and push-button on both sides with safety fold clasp.
The end links do not extend the lug length any further and the bracelet can fall directly down from the spring bar. This makes the bracelet very comfortable in daily wear.

The links themselves are solid stainless steel with pin style connectors, not screws. The bracelet is oyster style with 3 links across. The bracelet is brushed stainless steel on the top and bottom and polished on the sides. The polished sides match the polished sides of the case itself and goes very well with one another. This continuation of the brushed top and polish side gives the Mako a more refined dive look.

The clasp is stamped with Orient’s name and Logo and has 3 micro-adjust. The micro-adjust total adjustment is shorter than 1 link, so there could be a sizing issue with finding the exact size for your wrist, if you have a big wrist. For me, its perfect, as I have a rather small wrist, about 6". Overall the bracelet is a solid performer and feels thick and solid.

The only thing which annoys me is that the pins between the links will produce faint squicky sound. unnoticeable to others but the wearer will hear it.

Case and crystal
At 41.1mm without and 45.6mm with crown, the Orient Mako XL will fit almost any size wrist comfortably without being too small or big, even for me, who has a small wrist.
The case is stainless steel with brushed uppers with polished sides, crown, and pusher. The crown is at the 3 o’clock position and adjusts the time and date, the separate pusher controls the day complication. The crown is screw down but not the day adjustment button. Something different from the small Mako. The crown and pusher screw down very smartly and give you a solid feel with smooth threads.
The bezel turns counter-clockwise. The bezel turns easily but the clicking sound produced gives it a very "solid" feel.

The bezel has a beautiful deep blue shine to it and the numbers and minute markers are in silver. The teeth of the bezel’s edges are very even and smooth but deep enough to provide a firm grip against your fingers as you turn the bezel. The lugs curve downward to hug the wrist and this does a great job in keeping this watch centered on the wrist. The lugs do not extend far from the case. Although the actual measure of lug-to-lug measurement is 47.1mm but the downward curve of the lugs makes it look aesthetically smaller and look great on smaller wrists like mine.

The crystal is a flat mineral crystal that sticks up above the bezel by about 0.5mm. It has no AR coating and no date magnifier. Wearing this for the past 8 days, the surface of the crystal attracts dust and dirt easily but of course, since this is a divers watch. Its meant and built for bumps and scratches.

Overall Impressions
The Orient Mako XL is a solid diver watch that exudes quality from the moment you pick it up, considering this is a under S$250 to S$300 category watch

I have not went swimming with this watch, therefore I'm not sure how this watch will hold up.

but of course there are a few things I hope to see in the future if Orient decides to release a Mako III.
- The orient logo on the crown. I'm quite disappointed that they did it for Mako but not Mako XL.
- hacking would be nice.
- sapphire crystal on this watch or with AR coating but I know that would increase the price out of the ultra-affordable range into the affordable range and they would lose some customers.
- 28,800 bph
- clear back

but still, its gonna be difficult to find a better 200m rated dive watch, or any type of watch, that compares to the quality of the Orient Mako XL.

My Steinhart Ocean One has found a solid competitor now for wrist time haha!

here are the rest of the images. Enjoy!

thoughts of tisell?

Well, the lume is almost non-existent.

I paid usd195 for this tisell and sgd200 for a seiko skx. But the tisell has a better movement, sapphire glass, ceramic bezel and a good bracelet. Well worth the money in my view.

Haha yes! I remember! Was looking to quote you guys for your feedback. Much appreciated!

Don't really like it losing time.

give it some time to "run in". and accumulate your loss time over a month.if its out of specs send it in to gnomon for a simple check up and regulation if needed. if i am right gnomon has a local service centre so it should be quick.

Congrats in your purchase! The latest update is the 44GMT delivery period is now with April to June

3 seconds is within range and expectation but there are people whom will be uncomfortable even with losing 1 second or even less

Try resting the watch in different positions and see if the accuracy improves

Hope this helps

Congratulations to rush to get it first. Pay attention to official website: dynamic?

44GMT delivery date has been pushed to the 4·6 month!

Your watch daily for about 3 seconds slow, that is within the second difference of the movement range, should have no problem. Of course, in addition to seniors beyond you, there must be other people for the daily loss of 1 second or more will feel uncomfortable.

Or you can try to put the watch in different "sleeping" position, see seconds difference whether there is room for improvement.

+/- 3 sec is very good. Well within COSC standards.

I just got poisoned by dead beat second movement...

Tisell bracelet really is really one of the weak points of the watch. My bracelet spring bars came out twice 😱😱. Now forced to use strap
