Just to disclaim, the current ban has nothing to do with what's happening on this thread in case people think we're banning folks without proper cause. User has accepted the fact he/she is using a clone account. Thus the account is banned.

Yet another point to disclaim is the threadstarter's claim in the first post of being banned because of the language used, is incorrect. He did get an infraction, which led to an accumulation of points, which auto-triggered the ban.

I was making a statement from a moderation team's perspective. I was only pointing out those who did derail/complicate this particular discussion thread. However, all mini-modders have been called out the day before here:-

It's very easy to comment, and even if you have any moderation experience to back you up, nothing matches the intricacies/speed/volume of EDMW. Yes, I might be repeating the same old disclaimers, but it is what it is. If you have other matters to bring up, do it in a separate feedback thread, just like you've done before.

Folks weighing in on a user's moderation related queries just complicates the issue. It's as good as speculation when you don't have the full details, which would further compel others to chime in the wrong direction. This isn't a chit-chat forum. So let's keep it clean and neat, shall we?

Give us the room and time to address matters raised. It's really a very fair ask.

You either allow political discussion here or you don't, rather simple really.

If you allow, then you must expect disagreeable views to your own or even mainstream - mainstream here being the majority opinion of members. If they are pro-PAP then expect anti-govt sentiments even bordering on hatred (but not violence). If it's pro-opposition majority then we have to accept those who like and adore the PAP to spread their crap (my view).

If the mods and admin cannot accept this, then stop all political discussion. You cannot moderate on bits and pieces you like or dislike. Politicians roles have a tremendous impact on lives of ordinary members. They definitely want to express their views on such actions and express it in the strongest terms possible.
I may not like him, but what Minister Shanmugam said about political views is spot on.

You can call him a fool, stupid and the like but not corrupt (you can if have evidence and prepared to produce it either to authorities or if faced with a lawsuit) and accuse them of criminality without evidence.
Everything else is kosher.

Moderators should be briefed on how to follow this very simple suggestion by the Minister of Home Affairs and Law, no less.

With that in mind, you either allow or disallow - it's as simple as that. Just need to stay within what the Minister said.

No need for you to come here with lectures on morals and forum etiquettes

Nobody forced you to moderate or administer this forum. You can't handle it, just quit. You're not indispensable even if you're employed by SPH. Say tomorrow touch wood you get covid and can't work, will SPH close down just because the admins and mods are unavailable?

It's so damn hard for your mods to apologise and admit their mistakes. Instead we get motherhood statements and a bevvy of excuses.
