Thin and light laptop for student

Going school soon, need a thin and light laptop with good battery life

Willing to sacrifice gaming for battery life (most important)

Any recommendations? Huawei matebook maybe?

Yoga S730 currently Challenger selling the 8gb/512gb version for only 1,199... I just bought today. Battery can last 5 to 6 hours but more importantly, can charge with any power delivery power bank, so you don't need to worry run out of battery...

Huawei matebook is a good buy. You can just hop over to JB to buy. It's quite cheap. Under 2k for very good specs. Battery life is quite good. Full day use, no problem. I've been using the Matebook X Pro for for more than a year now, no issues.

LG Gram also has fantastic battery but quite expensive..

I think most importantly what is your budget. Light laptops with long battery life generally cost more.

Asus' new ZenBook 13 is the world's thinnest laptop with a dedicated GPU which the company is claiming is the world's thinnest notebook. Better for students.
