I'm thinking of building 2 Thin ITX ESXi rigs and have been trying to source the parts!

  • Case: Lian Li PC-Q05B (damn sexy!)
  • Motherboard: Intel Desktop Motherboard Thin mini-ITX BOXDQ77KB
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 3770T
  • Cooler: Intel Thermal Solution HTS1155LP
  • RAM: 2x8GB DDR3 SODIMM
  • PSU: 90W AD-DC Adapter
  • HDD: 64GB SSD
I am able to get most of the parts from Amazon except the motherboard :s22:!
Anyone knows if it is sold anywhere locally?
Same for the Intel Core i7 3770T - is this sold locally? (in case of warranty)

If anyone has better suggestions for thin mini-ITX rig supporting 16GB of RAM per motherboard and dual Intel NICs on board, please share :D!

(ideally I would like 32GB in a rig but 4 DIMM ITX boards or 16GB DIMMs just don't exist yet :()

Both hosts will be in a cluster with shared storage via iSCSI off a NAS.

Thank you!

Think you did not do most of the homework. A full rig made in Amazon will kill you any time if any of the part is faulty and you got to send it back to RMA.

There are things that you may want to consider first before buying it in amazon only. There are things also the same pricing that comes with local warranty.

The only parts that will go wrong are MB, CPU, RAM and HDD.
RAM I will get from SLS as they are just regular SODIMMs.
HDD I already have them.

It's the MB and CPU (which are not the commons ones if you noticed) that are hard to source. Hence the purpose of this thread; in case anyone happens to know where I can get them besides Amazon (SLS don't seem to stock them.)

The MB is really really rare AFAIK.

:)

Dun think any shops in SLS is carrying intel mobo. You can try Chamoxa however, just call them up. Else, just get from amazon.
